Happy Friday! This has been a great week! It better be because it’s my last week of summer break. Sorry if I sound like a broke record, but that’s what constantly running in my brain right now. I have a bunch of favorites, so let’s get to them!
Favorite 1: GOLF! This favorite isn’t complete yet but I’m sharing it! The PGA tour is close to us this week and we are loving it. Jeff’s volunteering so he gets to have a lot of interaction with the golfers. The boys and I went on Wednesday for the Pro-Am. I should start with this – golfers are usually great to kids, but during the Pro-Am they were amazing! My kids got to talk to them and got a bunch of autographs. We stayed from 9-230 and had a great time. Jeff joined us for a little while before his volunteer shift started.
Heading home hot and tired, but oh so happy!
As you know, Jack LOVES golf. He also LOVES going to PGA tournaments. He was floored that Jeff and I didn’t plan to take him all day every day that they were in town. So, he took matters into his own hands and asked my dad to take him on Thursday. They got to the course around 10 and left around 5:30. Jack was in HEAVEN!
Xander gave Jack his glove and Cam Davis’ caddy gave him one of Cams’ balls.
We are staying home on Friday and Saturday, but heading back for the day on Sunday.
Favorite 2: TRAILS!! We found a new to us trail on Tuesday that led to a giant dam. We brought some buddies with us and had a great time. The kids splashed in the river when we finished hiking the trail.
Favorite 3: PARENTS!! I go through spurts of time when I get to see my parents a bunch and this is one of them! I saw them on Tuesday, Wednesday, my dad Thursday, and we’ll see them both on Saturday. Even though we live close (about 25 minutes), sometimes I go a few weeks without seeing them because we are busy or they are traveling. Thankfully this is one of those spurts when I see them more.
Favorite 4: BOOKS!! Luke is really loving the Spy School series by Stuart Gibbs. He’s reading Spy Camp now.
I just finished Where the Grass is Green and the Girls are Pretty by Lauren Weisberger. It was fun like The Devil Wears Prada and When Life Gives You Lululemons.
I just started Blush by Jamie Brenner and I’m loving it already. It’s about wine and family – sounds pretty perfect to me.
Favorite 5: BASEBALL!! We had a great time at the Orioles vs. Braves game on Sunday. The boys have morphed into Braves fans over the past few years and I’ve watched a lot of Braves baseball on tv, but it still felt weird to not wear orange to a baseball game.
Jack wanted to watch Field of Dreams for a while, but especially since the Field of Dreams game was on tv a few weeks ago. We watched it this week and it was just as good as I remembered it. However, I always though that the voice said, “If you build it, THEY will come.” I found out I was wrong! It’s “If you build it, HE will come.” Oops!
Favorite 6: FRIENDS AND WINE!! We spent some time at a local winery last weekend. It is gorgeous there and we had the best time. I need to remember to go back more!
Favorite 7: SOCCER!! Luke is back on the field and it is so good to watch him have so much fun! He joined a new team this year and it’s going really well. They played in a scrimmagefest last weekend and have another tournament coming up next weekend.
Favorite 8: LAZY MORNINGS! We usually ease into summer mornings. No one out of bed before 7 am. Tv/device time for a little while. Breakfast. Run or swim and then play at the pool for the rest of the day. With the summer mornings coming to an end, we are enjoying these lazy mornings. Yesterday Luke was in his pjs until 11 and it was great!
Favorite 9: SUNSHINE! It was getting ready to storm the other night and the sky was gorgeous.
I am loving the daytime sunshine, but it is working overtime this week. It feels like we are actually on the surface of the sun lately! I’ll still pick that over rain or clouds or chilly.

Favorite 10: POOL! We spent a bunch of time at the pool on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and we are heading back today. I love our pool. Pool friends are the best. Big kids play with little kids. The lifeguards play with the kids. Anyone can join in a game at anytime. It feels like it might be just about perfect. 😊 I’ve been missing my pool sitting friends but hopefully this weekend we can reunite!

I’m hoping that our weather doesn’t feel like we are sitting on the surface of the sun whenever we are outside this weekend. I’d like to spend a good night of time outside! Have a great weekend full of sunshine and books!
