Show Us Your Books – 8/10/21

Happy Tuesday! It’s two book post Tuesday! Everyone’s favorite Tuesday of the month!! Well, maybe it’s just my favorite Tuesday. 😊 I am having a great reading summer! I read seven books this month and started and eighth. Let’s get to them!

Linking up with Steph and Jana

Float Plan by Trish Doller ☀️ ☀️ ☀️ ☀️ ☀️

I thought this book was great! I loved the main character and how she worked through her grief. She relied on herself and discovered how strong she was and how to be happy again.

The Newcomer by Mary Kay Andrews ☀️ ☀️ ☀️ ☀️

MKA wrote another great mystery in a small beach town. The main character Letty was on the run with her niece following her late sister’s directive. It was a great beach read and that’s right where I read it!

The Last Thing He Told Me by Laura Dave
☀️ ☀️ ☀️ ☀️ ☀️

I loved this book! This isn’t the type of book that I usually read, but it was so good!! I read it in two days and was on the edge of my seat the whole time. I highly recommend this one! Go read it now!

Sunrise on the Sea by Jenny Colgan ☀️ ☀️ ☀️ ☀️ ☀️

I love Jenny Colgan and this is one of my favorite series that she writes. Nina and Huckle are so lovely and I enjoy how Jenny Colgan brings new characters in and weaves them into the small town so seamlessly. I think I would love to live in Mount Polbearne and visit Nina’s bakery each morning.

Family Reunion by Nancy Thayer ☀️ ☀️ ☀️ ☀️

Oh Nancy, I love the Nantucket you share with us! This is a multigenerational story of a grandmother, her two children, and her grandchild. I really enjoyed the bond between the grandmother and granddaughter. This is another great summer read!

The Summer of Lost and Found by Mary Alice Monroe ☀️ ☀️ ☀️ ☀️ ☀️

This is the seventh book in the Beach House series. It was so interesting to read because it is the first book I’ve read that addresses the pandemic. It starts in March 2020 just as the United States started to shut down. Over a year later, it still seems so surreal to read about what we are living through.

**This book felt a little extra special to write about because we found a sea turtle crew on the beach two nights ago. They are monitoring a nest that should be hatching any day now. I hope it happens while we are here 🤞🏽 **

Malibu Rising by Taylor Jenkins Reid ☀️ ☀️ ☀️ ☀️ ☀️

I wasn’t sure what to expect from this book, but it blew every expectation I had out of the water. It was so good! This is definitely in my top 3 books of the year! It is a family story, which I love, with siblings that depend on each other so entirely. They live in gorgeous Malibu and I felt like I was there the whole time. This book also made me want to read Reid’s other book The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo. Go read this book now and you can thank me later!

That Summer by Jennifer Weiner – currently reading

I can’t wait to see what everyone else is reading this month. Be sure to check out the link up on Steph’s or Jana’s page to see a bunch of bloggers sharing what they have been reading. You should probably have a pen and paper ready to make a list of books to read! Don’t forget to check out my other post of new releases today. Have a great day full of sunshine and books!

I loved Malibu Rising and enjoyed Last Thing… so many of those books are on my list. I started Last Summer but then Golden Girl arrived, so I started it. If I don’t get back to it, I will save it for next summer 🙂

I read and enjoyed most of these books too; I am so jealous that you found a sea turtle crew on the beach. We were hoping to find some on our vacation but it was so rainy and awful each morning and evening that we only ever made it to the beach one day!
