Friday Favorites – 7/30/21

Happy Friday! One month from today I start back to work and my kids go to their favorite camp of the year – Camp Gigi! We are going to embrace this month and squeeze as much summer fun as we can. We had a great week and I have a bunch of favorites to share.

Linking up with Erika and Andrea

Favorite 1: OLYMPICS!! We are basically paralyzed by the Olympics. The Parsons are watching way more tv than we ever do and I don’t care. We’ve watched swimming, diving, gymnastics, golf, water polo, basketball, canoe slalom, volleyball, rowing, handball, fencing, shooting, skateboarding, and surfing. Basically, if Peacock has it on, we’ve watched it. We are cheering on Team USA and have been so impressed by all the athletes!

Luke tried out the double cap method that a lot of the Olympic swimmers use.

Favorite 2: ZOO!! We used to belong to the Maryland Zoo in Baltimore and went all the time when the boys were little. We went to the National Zoo in Washington, DC this week and it was so fun! The National Zoo is a part of the Smithsonian so entry is free, but I opted to pay for parking instead of riding the metro to get there.

Luke’s class followed panda cub Xiao on the panda cam this year so I knew this would be the perfect summer to go to the National Zoo. This zoo has a lot of animals that the Maryland Zoo doesn’t have. So we were excited to see the pandas, Asian elephants, orangutans, gorillas, tigers, bison, fishing cats, snow cloud leopards, seals, and sea lions. We stayed for almost 5 hours and covered the whole zoo.

Summer Sarah thinks these “sandwiches” are perfect for lunch. 😂

Favorite 3: FLOWERS!! My hanging baskets were struggling in July. With a little more watering and playing with them, they are thriving again. I love these coral impatiens!

Favorite 4: BOOKS!! I got my annual reading on the beach picture and the book I’m reading was so good.

We had our pool book club on Wednesday night and I brought my favorite reading cup. I love our pool book club because we talk about the book some, but we spend most of our time talking about any book. It’s so fun to hear what other people are reading and enjoying!

I finished Sunrise by the Sea yesterday and it was another winner by Jenny Colgan! The Beach Street Bakery series is one of my favorites.

Favorite 5: POOL!! We have Family Fun at 5 tonight at the pool. I love it because the kids have fun with friends and so do the adults. We have a foam machine that the kids have so much fun with!

I got our annual cannonball video, better late than never!

Favorite 6: PINK!! I have been looking for the perfect pink watch band and I think this one is it!

Favorite 7: BROTHERS! On Wednesday at the zoo, I was telling the boys that they used to play like bear cubs. Always touching each other, but not hurting each other. Whoopsie daisy! I guess I shouldn’t have reminded them of that because Thursday morning wasn’t so relaxing on the couch.

I have my 3 day half marathon planned with Jamie this weekend. Hopefully the weather holds out and we can enjoy a bunch of pool time. I need to start packing for our beach trip, too. Have a great weekend full of sunshine and books!

The zoo looks like it was a fun day! We went to the Cincinnati Zoo last summer and then the kids went again with friends right when school let out. I love your reading on the beach photo. It’s perfect! We’ve been all about the Olympics too. Have a great weekend & good luck with your running adventures!
