Happy Friday! We’ve had a fun week of summer and I have a bunch of favorites to share! So let’s get to it.
Favorite 1: FAMILY!! We had the best time together at The Greenbrier last weekend. The kids had a great time with their cousin, Maggie. It was so nice to all be together for the first time since Christmas. We had so much fun playing golf, swimming, climbing, and relaxing. I shared our whole trip yesterday.
We celebrated my mom’s birthday this week. We had a delicious dinner and enjoyed our time together.
Favorite 2: FRIENDS!! About a year ago, my friend Jamie had a heart attack and on Tuesday night we celebrated her one year anniversary of sticking around. We were planning to run a 5k but with the real feel near 100, we decided to walk instead. We headed out for a delicious dinner and a beer to toast.
We signed up for the Made to Move Summer Race series. There are three runs throughout the summer. In June, we picked a 5K. We’ll run again in July and August. When we signed up for the series, we picked a flower team to join. I picked yellow, team joy!
Favorite 3: JACK!! Jack competed in Drive, Chip, and Putt again this year. And for the second time, he advanced to the next round! He’ll compete in Virginia in August. Jack is excited to be back to playing more golf, too. He is back in Junior League at our golf course. Jack’s having a blast and playing well.
Favorite 4: LUKE!! Luke swam in time trials this week and swam so fast! We also found out that he qualified for Maryland Long Course Junior Champs swim meet. He’s excited to swim at the end of the month!

I got two nautical knot bracelets, too. I had a bracelet when I was a kid and I love how summery they are. I got a white one a few years ago and added these fun blue and yellow ones.
Favorite 6: BOOKS!! I finished two books last week and enjoyed them both. I read The Road Trip by Beth O’Leary and Under The Southern Sky by Kristy Woodson Harvey. They are both from my Summer Beach Reads 2021 list.
Favorite 7: DINNER! I had a few leftovers so Luke and I decided to make taco mac and cheese. It was so easy – taco meat, mac and cheese, peppers, and tomatoes – and delicious!
Favorite 8: SKIN!! I have been using BeautyCounter products for about a year and my skin has never looked or felt better. I love the Countermatch regimen. Favorite 9: RAINY DAYS! I don’t usually love rainy days. After all, this blog is called SUNSHINE and books. I didn’t mind the rain on Thursday. The kids had a fun swim practice in the rain and there weren’t many people at the pool so they could play football where all the chairs usually are.
Favorite 10: OTOSCOPE! I had a lot of ear problems as a child and still as an adult. I am a little over worried about my kids’ ears so I bought an otoscope. I use it all the time. Luke was complaining about ear pain so I used it and diagnosed him with swimmer’s ear. We popped over to the doctor’s office and she confirmed my diagnosis. After a few days of drops, Luke will be back in action.
Favorite 11: CERAMICS!! A few weeks ago I went to a ceramics studio with some baseball moms. My painting skills leave a lot to be desired, but I love how these turned out. Officially I painted two star and one crab candle holder. I don’t think I am going to put candles in them at all. I’ll probably put pens or pencils in one and battery powered lights in the others.

We have a fun weekend planned at the pool and with friends. I’m going to be reading a bunch because I cannot put this book down that I am reading! It’s so good! I’ll be back Tuesday after a fun long weekend! Have a great weekend full of sunshine and books!

Your boys are doing fabulous! I always had swimmer’s ear as a kid and my youngest often gets that during the summer too; no fun but thankfully it is easily fixed. Looks like you had lots of great family time.
Happy belated birthday to your mom and congratulations to your friend. So many amazing milestones and it’s definitely something to celebrate. I am glad you enjoyed reading The Road Trip. That’s on my reading list and now I cannot wait to dive in!
