Tuesday Book Release Day

Happy Tuesday! I have two great books to share with you! One is by an author that I’ve met a few times and one is by an author that is top of my “want to meet” list!

Today is the second day of Prime Day! I am not the best Prime Day shopper. I’m not ready to do Christmas shopping and we don’t usually need many prime deal items this time of year. If I was to recommend one prime deal, it would be the Kindle Paperwhite. I cannot live without mine!! Even though I love paper books, I love my kindle so much. The new one is waterproof which makes it perfect for reading poolside or in the pool! I was reading on it Sunday and Monday at the pool and it’s so easy! I love my case too. It has an elastic hand strap and a foldable stand to make it stand up alone.

Blush by Jamie Brenner

For decades, the Hollander Estates winery has been the premier destination for lavish parties and romantic day trips on the North Fork of Long Island. But behind the lush vineyards and majestic estate house, the Hollander family fortunes have suffered and the threat of a sale brings old wounds to the surface. For matriarch Vivian, she fears that this summer season could be their last—and that selling their winery to strangers could expose a dark secret she’s harbored for decades. Meanwhile, her daughter, Leah, who was turned away from the business years ago, finds her marriage at a crossroads and returns home for a sorely needed escape. And granddaughter Sadie, grappling with a crisis of her own, runs to the vineyard looking for inspiration.

But when Sadie uncovers journals from Vivian’s old book club dedicated to scandalous novels of decades past, she realizes that this might be the distraction they all need. Reviving the “trashy” book club, the Hollander women find that the stories hold the key to their fight not only for the vineyeard, but for the life and love they’ve wanted all along.

Dream Girl by Laura Lippman

In the end, has anyone really led a blameless life?

Injured in a freak fall, novelist Gerry Andersen is confined to a hospital bed in his glamorous high-rise apartment, dependent on two women he barely knows: his incurious young assistant, and a dull, slow-witted night nurse.

Then late one night, the phone rings. The caller claims to be the “real” Aubrey, the alluring title character from his most successful novel, Dream Girl.  But there is no real Aubrey. She’s a figment born of a writer’s imagination, despite what many believe or claim to know. Could the cryptic caller be one of his three ex-wives playing a vindictive trick after all these years? Or is she Margot, an ex-girlfriend who keeps trying to insinuate her way back into Gerry’s life?

And why does no one believe that the call even happened?

Isolated from the world, drowsy from medication, Gerry slips between reality and a dreamlike state in which he is haunted by his own past: his faithless father, his devoted mother; the women who loved him, the women he loved.

And now here is Aubrey, threatening to visit him, suggesting that she is owed something. Is the threat real or is it a sign of dementia? Which scenario would he prefer? Gerry has never been so alone, so confused – and so terrified.

**As always, the summaries come from the author’s or publisher’s because they know it best.**

If you are looking for other new releases, check out my Tuesday Book Release Day page. I’m sharing my favorite beach reads of 2021 on my Summer Beach Reads page, too.

I’ve met Laura Lippman a few times and cannot wait to meet Jamie Brenner. Hopefully I’ll make my way to her 2022 book tour next year!

What are you excited to read this week? I’m hoping to spend some more time reading at the pool this week. Luke’s going to camp for a few days, so Jack and I are heading to the golf course. Have a great day full of sunshine and books!

I was just saying to my husband this weekend that they needed to come up with a waterproof version as I love reading when I’m by the water (or even kayaking/ canoeing).
