Happy Wednesday! I am linking up with Anne to share five things we are currently doing. We are in the homestretch of the school year and I sat down to write this post and realized I had ZERO pictures. Whoops, ‘tis the end of the school year! I am enjoying my last days with my students but I am so ready for summer.

CELEBRATING…

I am celebrating the pool being officially open!! We had so much fun on Monday and I cannot wait for our every day pool days.

I am celebrating that we have NINE days of school left! I’ve had a lot of fun with the kids in the building and online, but I am ready to have some summer fun!

COLLECTING…

I am collecting all the media books! We have about 230 students with books out right now. Over the next nine days, we will hunt these books down! I send written notices and emails, check lockers, book bags, and classrooms, and ask teachers to hunt for them too!

GIFTING…

I’m getting all the teacher gifts ready right now. We usually do gift cards for the kids’ academic teachers and lunch for the special area team. Now that Jack is in middle school, I did gift cards for all the teachers, academic and special areas. This has been a year like no other and all of my kids’ teachers have done an amazing job!!

THINKING…

I am thinking about what classes I am going to take this summer. I need 5 credits before next June, but they don’t have to be in any specific area. I will pick classes that I think will help me be the best media specialist I can be.

I am thinking about some summer plans. We have a few vacations planned but I think we can sneak away one or two more times.

As crazy as it feels to say it, I am thinking about next year. I think we are going to be totally in person next year with more access to computers and technology so I’ve already started thinking about what that will look like for my students.

TRYING…

I am trying to make some semblance of a healthy routine. The end of the year is definitely not the best time to overhaul my whole routine, but I’m not giving up. I am trying to drink a ton of water. I am trying to get some exercise in every day. I am trying to eat as many fruits and veggies as I can. I am trying to not drink Diet Coke from sun up to sun down (sort of – I love Diet Coke). I am trying to figure out my workout routine using the Peloton app for weight training and running. Hopefully, I’ll have a great routine soon!

I am also trying to read 8-10 more kids books this week! I am on a committee to select books for a book competition and I want to get these read, or at least skimmed, in the next week.

I can’t wait to see what everyone else is celebrating, collecting, gifting, thinking, and trying. I’m off to read Indian No More by Charlene Willing McManis. Have a great day full of sunshine and books!

I hear you on the trying! I’m trying to get most of that done too. I have been thinking long and hard about what to do for teacher’s gifts… with so many teachers in my son’s schedule I’m feeling rather stuck.

I definitely trying to do better with my healthy eating and drinking more water and all that. It’s been a bit cold and rainy, so my pool is still closed but I’m soooo ready to go relax in the water and read.

I love your post 🙂 there’s nothing better than a gift card! we have a local bookstore that has books, a cafe, cute gifts and more, so I try to get a gift card there for teachers. I assume they love to read, but if not, there are other ways they can use the gift card 🙂 I know your job is so busy tracking down those books right now. I always make sure my own kids turn in their books …trying to help the stress of our media specialist and the one at their school.

Two hundred and thirty books to find in nine days…whoa buddy!! My bestie was our school librarian and that brings back memories!! Here’s to summer – and the pool being open!!

I find that drinking a lot of water keeps me from drinking too much of anything else because I constantly have to pee 😉 So I guess that can be handy. And I agree, whatever we can do to show extra appreciation to teachers after the last 2 school years… I love giving gift certificates to our great local farmers’ market at the end of the school year because who doesn’t love fresh strawberries or bouquets of flowers, and bonus that it’s good for the local economy too!

    Happy summer to you!

I’m a teacher’s wife and I would lose my mind with joy if he brought home farmers’ market gift certificates! Such a great gift!

Trying is a good word for a healthy routine. We are debating going to Walt Disney World in the fall and if I want to take in all of the new attractions that I missed the last few years, I need to be a skosh healthier and build some stamina.

Also, your earrings continue to be a complete delight!

I feel like I am trying to do all the healthy routine things too – sometimes successfully, sometimes not! I guess as long as we keep trying it’s a good thing. Love those earrings!

I cannot wait until our pool opens — it’s looking like it will this year and I will be celebrating BIG if it does. Now that we’re virtual until the end of the year, it looks like it will be another fall of trying to collect library books from this year for our school librarians and I feel so bad for them 🙁 I wish you all the best as you try and get as many as you can back.
