What’s Up Wednesday – 5/25/21

Happy Wednesday! It’s another work from home Wednesday for us and the weather is supposed to be AMAZING!! Some might call it hot, but I’m embracing that forecasted 92 degrees with sunshine! I’m sharing what we’ve been up to today so let’s get to it.

Linking up with Sheaffer and Shay

WHAT WE’VE BEEN EATING…

I’ve been sticking to my “make the protein and let everyone decide what to do with it” dinner planning and it’s going well. I just have to be sure to have a fridge stocked with fruits and veggies to complement that protein.

WHAT I’M REMINISCING ABOUT…

Memorial Day weekend!! The town I grew up in has the longest continuously running Memorial Day parade on the country. We go every year and those memories have been popping up. I love how everyone is dressed up in their red, white, and blue and loving on America!!

WHAT I’M LOVING…

I am loving the weather!! We’re having great stretches of sunny days with a rainy day mixed in to water the garden and give me time to get things done inside.

Sunny days and a yummy drink = fabulous

The pool is about to open and I love being on the board. We’ve been working hard to get it ready for a regular summer and it looks great!! I had a few minutes after our new member meeting before picking Luke up from swim and I enjoyed it!

WHAT WE’VE BEEN UP TO…

Our pool is filled but it doesn’t open until Memorial Day weekend. We had a day for kids to earn service hours by cleaning up the pool area and getting it ready to open. The weather was GORGEOUS so the kids cooled off and the grown ups enjoyed the sunshine when we were done.

Luke wrapped up his lacrosse season. He had the best time playing and got the Rookie of the Year award.

Jack’s been playing a bunch of baseball lately.

Both kids have been able to go to swim team practice a little more lately. The outdoor pool at the gym is open and Friday’s practice started in the fun pool.

WHAT I’M DREADING…

It’s not really a dread, but I have the hardest time staying inside at work on days when it is so warm and sunny and beautiful. The weather looks great this week so I am dreading being stuck inside at work. Luckily, we can leave school at 2:45 so there is still a lot of sunshine and outside time left in the day.

WHAT I’M WORKING ON…

All of the end of year stuff in the library. I’m making my book and database orders for next year. I’m running all of the end of year reports. But the hardest thing I’m doing is trying to get all of those books back! PSA – if your child goes to a school with a library, be sure to return the books! Media books can be so tricky! They like to hide under beds, couches, car seats, and on bookshelves. Good luck and thank you from your local media specialist!

WHAT I’M EXCITED ABOUT…

The pool opening, of course. If you’ve been here for a summer you know that we spend a lot of time at the pool and I love it!

Jack got his first covid vaccine and gets his second one next month! I am excited for these kids to get vaccinated so we can get one step closer to herd immunity!

I am VERY EXCITED about the end of school. I really love my job, but this has been the hardest year I’ve ever had. Between virtual, hybrid, and in person, all of us are ready for summer break. I am ready to reign in the screen time, since no one needs it for school in the summer, and get back to our regular summer routine.

WHAT I’M WATCHING/READING…

I loved Sarah Richardson’s show when it was on HGTV and I was bummed when they stopped airing it. I found her on YouTube and I love watching her renovations!

I’ve been reading some kids books for work and a few adult books too. You can see my recent books here.

WHAT I’M LISTENING TO…

I’ve been listening to the Smartless podcast lately. So far I’ve listened to the Reese Witherspoon, Darius Rucker, and Adam Sandler. There are a few more I’d like to listen to also. It is not appropriate for kids, so I have to find some alone time to listen.

I’ve also been listening to Zac Brown Band in the afternoons when we get home. Remember how I said they were in my top 3 unseen bands, well – I GOT TICKETS!! They are coming super close to my town in August and I cannot wait to go!

WHAT I’M WEARING…

I’m trying to wear as many spring clothes on my closet as possible so I can figure out what I still love and what needs to go. The good news is that I still love a bunch of things!

My FAVORITE pair of jeans ripped beyond repair and they were 6+ years old. I couldn’t find the same style so I ordered 11 different pairs in hopes of finding something close. I found 2 great blue pairs! I also ordered some white jeans that got lost in the mail for a few weeks. They finally came and I love them, especially with this old favorite flamingo shirt!

WHAT I’M DOING THIS WEEKEND…

This weekend is Memorial Day weekend so our pool opens. I’d like to spend as much time there as we can, but the forecast doesn’t look super warm or sunny. Jack is playing in a baseball tournament and Luke is playing in a soccer tournament. That means we know what Saturday’s schedule is, but the rest of the weekend will be determined by how the teams do.

WHAT I’M LOOKING FORWARD TO NEXT MONTH…

S-U-M-M-E-R B-R-E-A-K!!! SUMMER BREAK!! We have two weekend trips planned in June. One is a baseball tournament and the other is going to be an amazing family vacation!! I’m excited to get out of town for both!!

I can’t wait for all that uninterrupted reading time! I can’t wait for extra time to exercise every day! I can’t wait for a relaxed schedule! I can’t wait to hang poolside with friends!

WHAT ELSE IS NEW…

For the first time in a very long time, I’m going to take a class or two this summer. My teaching certificate is up for renewal in 2022 so I’m going to try to get that finished when school isn’t in session. I need to figure out what I want to take and get signed up.

We’ve been busy but I’m looking forward to summer break soon!! See you back here tomorrow for Monthly Musings! Have a great day full of sunshine and books!!

I really hope our pool opens up normally this year. It opened last year (phew) but with a lot of restrictions and I would love some excellent (normal) pool days this year.

When I was a substitute librarian in March/April I always did a little happy dance when an overdue item was returned. The more overdue it was, the happier I was!!!

And my son is now on waiting lists for the vaccine so we’re super excited about that!

I just read When Stars are Scattered today and loved it! Love those new white jeans. I just ordered 8 shorts/ capir pants yesterday in the hopes of finding new favorite pairs myself. Congrats on the tickets!!
