Show Us Your Books – 5/11/21

Happy Tuesday! I am sharing the books I’ve read this month. It has been a really slow reading month for me. As usual this time of year, we’ve been getting busier and I just fall asleep the minute my head hits the pillow. So there goes about 20-30 minutes of reading time. I’m ok with it because we’re having lots of fun and so close to more reading and relaxing time. I only have 24 days of school between me and the easy, breezy days of summer! We. Can. Do. It!

Linking up with Steph and Jana

The Chicken Squad: The First Misadventure by Doreen Cronin

I’ve had this book in our school library for a long time and have skimmed parts of it. When I heard it was coming to Disney+, I decided to devote an hour or so and read it. I’m planning on giving it to Luke to read next. It’s a 2nd-3rd grade reading level, but I know he will think it’s hilarious!

The Bookstore on the Beach by Brenda Novak

I thought this book was pretty good. It is the second book I’ve read by Brenda Novak and I felt the same way about both of them. I like the stories just fine, but it could be told in about 100 pages less. This is a good family story with secrets and twists, which I usually love. I enjoyed the setting (beaches and books!), but wanted it to move a little faster as I was reading.

The Break-Up Book Club by Wendy Wax

I loved this book! It is a fun story of women and men who are going through some challenges in their lives and come to their book club for support and to figure out what to do next. The relationships between the book club members warmed my heart. They weren’t all friends outside of book club, but they were always in each other’s corner. I’ve been a Wendy Wax fan for a long time and she did not disappoint with this one. It comes out next Tuesday, May 18 so go get on your library’s hold list or preorder it!

That’s all for my month of reading! I think it is the lightest reading month I’ve had since I started linking up for Show Us Your Books. Watch out for next month’s post! I have a weekend trip planned this week and our schedule is getting a little less busy. Hopefully I’ll have a bunch of books! If you are looking for more to read, be sure to check out my other recent book posts: Summer Beach Reads 2021 and Tuesday Book Release Days. Have a great day full of sunshine and books!!
