Friday Favorites – 4/2/21

Happy Friday! We are officially on Spring Break, or Spring Weekend as my friend is calling it. Our Spring Break is only Friday/Monday around Easter. With the exception of one or two years, that is all our county has done for Spring Break since 1985 when I started kindergarten. We’ve had a fun week and I have a bunch of favorites to share with you.

Linking up with Erika and Andrea

Favorite 1: JACK!! We officially have a 12 year old in the house! Jack really wanted to play golf on his birthday and we decided to let him. He logged on to his classes on Jeff’s phone from the golf course. I would generally not let him skip school to play, but this is one of the benefits of virtual Wednesdays. We had lunch and visited with my parents while everyone popped in and out of their classes for a few hours. We ended the night playing Jack’s favorite game, Clue Master Detective.

Favorite 2: BEVERLY CLEARY!! I so enjoyed sharing Beverly Cleary’s books with my media classes this week. On Monday, I rocked my Mouse and the Motorcycle t-shirt! We read it for our school wide book club three years ago and most of the kids remembered it happily.

I read this scene from Ramona Quimby, Age 8 to my classes because it still makes me laugh every single time! The hard boiled egg fad is so great!

Thank you Beverly Cleary for writing books that make kids want to read and creating life long readers, like me!

Favorite 3: MATCHING!! We had an inclusive spirit day at school this week. Everyone was supposed to wear green or dinosaurs. Luke and I opted for our school sweatshirts.

Favorite 4: BASEBALL!! Jack had a baseball scrimmage this week. They have to be there an hour early to warmup. I like to use that time to read or exercise. This week I brought a set of weights and the blanket out of my car to get a workout in. Luckily Jack was playing at a park with a walking/running path and there we a few exercising people around.

Favorite 5: OUR HOUSE!! I was really hoping to say that our home improvement project was finished today, but it’s not. We have a few more things to finish up today and one or two days next week. The flooring in our mud room is in and I love it.

This picture of our driveway makes me so happy!! We’ve had three dumpsters on the driveway for the project. We’ve had our own lumber yard/building materials collection zone covering the whole length of the driveway in the grass.

For the first time in 7.5 years, one of the rooms in our house isn’t tan. Right before we moved in, the former owners had the whole house painted. It was well done, but it was beige. I don’t love beige but I couldn’t decide what colors to paint. With all of the work being done, I decided to go for it and change the powder room color. Jeff and his mom painted our whole townhouse and they are really good at it. I have never painted anything in my life but I tackled this room and it turned out pretty well.

Last March, we had a leak from an upstairs bathroom through the kitchen to the basement. In addition to ripping out walls and having the whole house re-piped, we lost our microwave. The water went right through it. Jeff brought home a small (SMALL) microwave from work and it has been sitting on our counter since then. Now that we are getting the kitchen put back together from the leak, we got a new microwave! It is a little bit bigger than our original microwave. It barely fit, I mean barely! I was up on the ladder with the drill trying to measure and show the installation guys how to move the microwave to fit. I am thrilled with it!

Favorite 6: PEEPS! We had some springy weather and this monogrammed Peep necklace was perfect for the day! We are heading to the Peep Show today with my mom and I am excited. I’m not sure which Peeps I’ll wear – necklace, earrings, or both. I’ve been sharing my Easter Cora’s Den, but there are so many fun seasonal earrings and necklaces on the website. What’s Up Wednesday on Monday
Tuesday Book Release Day
Happy Birthday Jack!

We don’t have any sports this weekend and I plan on using much of that extra time to get this house back in shape. I’d like to paint the bottom portion of our dining room walls. We have a bunch of furniture to move and arrange. I’m hoping that by the time we head back to school on Tuesday our house is all set and ready to go! Happy Easter to all who celebrate! Have a wonderful weekend full of sunshine and books!

I love your mudroom floor and your bathroom color! So nice to have your driveway back and your microwave off the counter! I have decided I hate renovating and never want to do it again! Lol! Happy Easter break!

We loved the Mouse and the Motorcycle! Your bathroom is beautiful. We are looking into redoing our master bath which is currently a beige and I was thinking of a very similar shade of blue for it!!
