Let’s Look – 2/10/21

Happy Wednesday! It’s February Let’s Look and we are talking love languages.

Linking up with Shay and Erika

I have been thinking about taking the love language quiz for a long time and this spurred me to take it. I wasn’t really sure what to expect and I wasn’t even familiar with all of the love languages. It turns out that my primary love language is…

Acts of Service!! Quality Time is a close second. After I thinking about it, I am not surprised by these results at all. Right now, Jeff and I are in the throws of raising two great kids who are involved in a lot and we both work full time. We are BUSY and I generally get it all done, but a surprise help in any way speaks to me. You want to do the dishes? I love it! You want to pick up groceries? I love it! You want to pick the kids up from practice? I love it! I also wonder if love languages change through different stages of your life. When we aren’t as busy, will this still be my love language? I have no idea! Have you seen an evolution in your love language over stages of life?

Jeff and I have always “laughed” that I don’t need any alone time. In fact, I used to try to convince my sister to talk to me when I was in the shower. I literally needed ZERO alone time. As I’ve gotten older and busier I do enjoy some alone time, but I really enjoy quality time with the people I love. It refreshes me and makes me feel ready to take on the world. It doesn’t have to be a big or extravagant quality time. Going on a walk together and talking at the table after dinner is over with a glass of wine are two of my favorite things to do with people I love. I won’t turn down a weekend away or a girls trip because they fill me up, too.

I am looking forward to reading all my friends’ thoughts about their love languages today! What’s your love language? Did your quiz results make sense to you? I can’t wait to hear! Have a great day full of sunshine and books!

No alone time? Teach me your ways 😂 the shower story is so funny! I think you have a good point – I wonder if they LL changes in different stages. Like I said in my post, I bet I will always love (written) affirmation but maybe I will need quality time once the kids are out of the house rather than acts of service.

I love the shower story! And, I bet they can change with age. Words of affirmation really fill me up. When a student says something nice about my class or my teaching style I am on a major high! When Tom says “good dinner” it makes me happy! It doesn’t take much!

Learning about the five love languages has been so eye opening for me. I’ve learned that all 5 are important, but we each have a preferred 1 or 2. I do expect they change throughout your life. I’ve also learned that the one you need the most is the one you tend to give more naturally. Mine is Acts of Service too but words is a close second.
