Friday Favorites – 1/8/21

Happy Friday! Like I sing every week for the kids at school, Friday, Friday, Friday is my favorite day! Even though Friday is always a busy day at work, I still love it. We have early swim team practice so all of us can be home and in pajamas by 6:30 pm at the latest. It sounds lame, but after the week it is just what I want.

Linking up with Andrea & Erika

Favorite 1: JACK!! Jack is supposed to be at Outdoor School this week. Every sixth grader in our county for as long as I’ve ever known goes to a week of sleep away camp. It counts as school and they learn so many amazing things about nature and themselves. I went when I was in 6th grade and again as a counselor when I was in 12th grade. I am trying to make the best of it for him, but I am heartbroken that he’s missing it. We headed out to the nature area where Outdoor School happens on Monday to hike around and apply some of his new knowledge.

Favorite 2: LUKE!! Jeff rearranged Luke’s Lego storage shelves and he’s loving it! The other night, I was working on a few things and Luke had an entire scene going. The battle has progressed into the dining room and is taking over the dining room table. Watch out, the kitchen is next!

Favorite 3: MAGGIE!! I promise this won’t become the Aunt Sarah blog, but she is just so sweet! We had the greatest time with her and my sister and brother-in-law are doing such a great job as parents!!

Favorite 4: PHONE! I got a new phone for Christmas and it took me a little while to figure out what I wanted. I was torn between the iPhone 12 pro and pro max. I ended up going with the 12 pro max because the camera is better. I keep my phones for a long time and I wanted the best camera I could get. It is big, sometimes I feel like I’m talking on an iPad mini, but I’m getting used to it pretty quickly.

Favorite 5: PING PONG!! My mom got Jack an any table ping pong set and it’s a big hit. We are all having the best time with it! The set has four paddles, some ping pong balls, and a net that can attach to just about any table. The light fixture gets in the way, but it usually makes the boys laugh pretty hard when it bounces around in there.

Favorite 6: BOOK CLUB!! I generally shy away from book clubs because I don’t like to be told what to read. I decided to participate in a book club through my school system this fall and we are discussing So You Want to Talk about Race by Ijeoma Oluo. It is a small group of us, about 10-12, and I am loving our conversations. We had a meeting on Thursday evening and our discussions about the heartbreaking events at the Capitol on Wednesday were so powerful!

This week on Sunshine & Books:
Hello Monday
Jolabokaflod 2020

I am hoping that we have great weather this weekend and can spend a lot of time outside. I have big plans to get back to reading more this weekend. For some reason – tired, stress, work, etc. – I haven’t been reading very much this week and I can tell. Have a great weekend full of sunshine and books!
