Life Lately – 12/23/20

Happy Wednesday!! It’s Christmas Eve Eve! We are still squeezing as much Christmas fun as we can into the next few days!

Friday was holiday headwear day at school. I wore a different hat to each class. It was fun to see the headbands and hats the kids had.

Friday evening, we had a ticket to a drive through ice sculpting event. It was part of a national championship ice sculpting series. The sculptures were amazing!!

On Saturday, Jack and I participated in Wreaths Across America with a group from his school. It was such a lovely event and I think we will do it every year from now on. We arrived at the cemetery and there was a ceremony celebrating each branch of the Armed Forces. Then, we began laying a wreath on every veteran’s grave in the cemetery. It was a nice way to honor the veterans and the cemetery looked beautiful with all the wreaths and the snow.

On Sunday, I made our favorite buttercream candy. It is so yummy and we added candy canes this year to some of it.

On Monday evening, we started a new tradition. We usually get together with friends a few times throughout December to do holiday things. This year we decided to try a walk through one of the neighborhoods in our town. We all brought our hot chocolate and headed out to see the lights. Jeff and I made adult hot chocolate with peppermint vodka and it was so good!

On Tuesday evening, we were able to see the Christmas Star when Jupiter and Saturn aligned so close to Earth. It was remarkably bright!

I made the cookie dough, but we still need to decorate cookies. I am hoping to do that this afternoon when the boys and I finish our half-day of school.

I’ve been wearing my Christmas shirts, too. I love this Santa shirt and my White Christmas shirt too. Especially while watching the movie!

Our snow is finally melting a little bit, but we are supposed to get more on Christmas afternoon or evening. I would love to watch the snow fall while we are cozy at home! I stopped making Christmas dinner years ago and we have snacks all day long. It’s so yummy and will feel like more of a treat after no Christmas parties with dips or appetizers!

I’ve been trying to read a bunch, too. I finished The Twelve Dates of Christmas by Jenny Bayliss. It was a fun read. I’m just starting The Twelve Days of Christmas by Trisha Ashley. It looks like it’s going to be a good one, too!

We are going to see a few family members over the next few days and we will be FaceTiming and Zooming with others. I hope you have a wonderful Christmas! See you next week!! Have a fantastic time full of sunshine and books!
