Show Us Your Books – 9/8/20

Happy Tuesday! I hope everyone had a wonderful, book filled long weekend! I am linking up with Steph and Jana to share what I’ve been reading lately. I haven’t been reading quite as much this month because I have been back to work. All that work really puts a damper on my reading time, but I love it!

The Flatshare by Beth O’Leary ☀️ ☀️ ☀️ ☀️ ☀️

I’d heard a lot of recommendations for this book. Everyone said it was a fun, happy, lighthearted read and they were right. I was looking forward to reading Beth O’Leary’s other book, The Switch, and I wanted to read The Flatshare before reading that one just in case there were any crossover characters (there weren’t) or things I noticed from one book to the next (there weren’t).

The Switch by Beth O’Leary ☀️ ☀️ ☀️ ☀️

I got an advanced reader copy of this book from Netgalley so I started it right after The Flatshare. I was excited to read another book set in the British Isles. It is about a grandmother and her granddaughter who both need a change so they decide to switch places. It sounds so easy breezy, but the characters are dealing with some deep stuff. I love how Beth O’Leary got them through it without making it too super sweet. Great book!

Louisiana Lucky by Julie Pennell ☀️ ☀️ ☀️ ☀️

I really liked this story about three sisters who win a life changing amount of money in the lottery. The sisters are all in some sort of dire financial so they had the opportunity to make huge upgrades in their homes, cars, and plans. There were some parts where in my head I said “No, are you crazy? Don’t do that!,” but all of those mistakes made you love the characters more. It was an easy summer read that passed the time at the pool and on the beach just fine. Thank you to NetGalley for an advanced copy.

Twice in a Blue Moon by Christina Lauren ☀️ ☀️ ☀️ ☀️

This is the second book by Christina Lauren that I have read. I figured this one out pretty quickly, but I still loved it. It was the definition of a fun, summer read! There was a little bit of romance, some family drama, and a beautiful backdrop for the whole story.

Sex and Vanity by Kevin Kwan ☀️ ☀️ ☀️ ☀️

I thought this book was really good and so beautiful just like the Crazy Rich Asians series. This book has a lot of family traditions and some good family drama. I thought he made Capri sound so beautiful. It made em want to visit as soon as we can hop on an international plane again. Kevin Kwan left the ending kind of open, so I’m not sure if there is going to be a sequel or not. I hope so!

That’s it for this month! Don’t forget to check out my other post today, Tuesday Book Release Day, for fun books coming out today! Have a great day full of sunshine and books!

Sounds like a great reading month! The Flatshare and Twice in a Blue Moon are both on my TBR. What was the other Christina Lauren book you read?

The Flatshare and The Switch both sound fun and cute. I ended up kind of annoyed by the sisters in Louisiana Lucky. But it wasn’t long enough to seriously get under my skin. Hahaha… Thanks for sharing and enjoy your month.
