Hello Monday – 8/17/20

Happy Monday! We had a great weekend! I’m linking up with Tanya to say Hello Monday!

After I ran in those new shoes on Thursday night, my foot did not feel good! My big toe joint has been hurting/aching for about four years. I assumed it was arthritis and did nothing about it. I also landed on it funny when I was surfing with the kids and it has been bothering me since then. I talked to my friend Jodi about it. She recommended a foot/ankle doctor and I made an appointment Friday morning. Before I went on Friday morning, I decided to go for a quick run. Just in case he said no running for a while.

Those shoes matched my shirt perfectly!
Bye bye flip flops! Doctor said sneakers all the time until my foot feels better.

Guess what? I sprained my foot and can’t run until I am totally pain free. Darn it! As a “get excited about 40” gift, he recommended orthotics for my big toe joint pain. But, on the bright side, I don’t have any arthritis in my feet!! I’m holding on to 39 for as long as I can!
Those new shoes I bought actually felt a little small when I tried to wear them again so I exchanged them for a size bigger. They didn’t have that pretty blue, but I like these too.

We headed to the pool Friday afternoon. The weather wasn’t supposed to be very nice but it turned into a great afternoon. Someone brought a football and the kids started playing. A few of the lifeguards joined in, too.

We didn’t go back to the pool for the rest of the weekend! Can you even believe it?? It was weird to be home so much, but we took advantage of the forecasted cloudy weather and spent some time working and playing at home. I worked on my library on Friday and Saturday.

We played Clue Master Detective.

Luke and I made cookies while Jeff and Jack played 9 holes.

On Sunday, the boys played backyard golf.

I got some work on the blog done on the deck. I had to put on long sleeves because it felt chilly. The real feel was 72!

Jeff trimmed our trees all around the house.

We went to my parents for dinner and the boys played catch with my dad.

Luke and my dad used his binoculars to check out a possible hornets nest 2 houses away. 😂

We took our old changing table dresser to my parents for my sister and brought home my childhood desk. The desk I was looking at is backordered until at least September 7th. My mom offered up this desk so we’d be set up and ready for the first day of school. We said, “Perfect!”

Jack is already excited to work here, but we aren’t calling it his desk. It is another workspace in our house for anyone to use when they need it. I have a feeling it will be primarily Jack’s workspace though.

My mom’s only rule for taking the desk is that we have to take anything in the drawers. When we got it home I cleaned out the drawers and found these relics – cassette tapes, 3.5” floppy discs, a waterproof radio for swimming laps, a travel alarm clock, and Advantix film and camera.

The boys are going to golf camp this week so I am looking forward to a super productive week. I have some webinars and other work things to do. I plan on reading a bunch. I’m hoping to get our house totally ready for learning and working from home so we can really enjoy the next week!

Have a great week full of sunshine and books!

Sorry about your foot! I hope it feels better soon. My husband is a runner and goes through the ups and downs of the years of running. I know having good shoes is key. He running shoe shops more than I shoe shop 😂 I hope you have a great week. I love the desk set up. We are getting organized around here too!

Look at all those blasts from the past! It was chilly here this weekend too and I was wearing a sweatshirt at Evan’s swim party; thankfully the kids didn’t mind. We even got some much needed rain.
