Happy Monday – 5/11/20

Happy Monday! We had a great weekend full of family and fun! I hope you did too! I’m linking up with Tanya and the Hello Monday girls to share our weekend.

I love to surprise my boys. I’ve surprised them with trips to the beach a handful of times, with fun visitors, and with treats or changes to our regular schedule. They rarely expect the surprises, but they are always so excited when it happens. On Saturday, I’d scheduled the Kona Ice truck delivery. Unfortunately, it was 47 degrees so we didn’t have the fun outside time I’d envisioned. But the boys were still so excited to have the truck drive right up our driveway just for them!

On Saturday, after we finished our Kona Ice, Jeff and Luke got out the Laser Maze and Gravity Maze game and had a great time playing with them. They are so fun!

On Sunday, we visited with both of our moms and Jeff’s grandmother. We joined Jeff’s parents and grandmother on their driveway from a safe distance. It was so great to see them! We’ve seen his parents a few times since we got our “stay at home” orders for the boys’ birthdays and Easter but this was the first time we’ve seen his grandmother since Christmas. As we were there, Jeff’s sister and her family and his brother and his family came to visit too. It was lovely to have all of us together even if we were spread out all over the driveway.

My parents came over to our house for crabs. It’s our tradition – crabs and wine on the deck. This year we opted for the driveway because it was warmer and the house was blocking the wind. It was quite an adventure getting the crabs, but in the end it was worth it! We had great crabs, and the boys each ate 2. They are learning just how yummy they are!!

My boys and Jeff got me the most thoughtful gifts – a JMU flag for the front of our house and sneakers because we have been walking/running 5+ miles every day and I am wearing through my shoes. I love this 1901 shirt from Nordstrom and it matches my new sneakers perfectly!

I was up for a few hours overnight on Saturday – darn brain wouldn’t turn off! The good side of that wake up was that I finished my book. The Good Luck Girls of Shipwreck Lane by Kelly Harms was so good! She wrote The Overdue Life of Amy Byler which was also wonderful!! In the Shipwreck Lane, there are two people with the same name from the same town that win a dream house from a home cable network station. The two women couldn’t be more different and their stories were so lovely as they wound together. It was a perfect, lighthearted story to read right now! ☀️ ☀️ ☀️ ☀️

We are looking forward to a bunch of warm, sunshine this week! I hope it’s filled with a bunch of books too! Have a great day full of sunshine and books!

It looks like a wonderful weekend and Mother’s Day, despite the chilly weather. So funny/sad about the Kona Ice surprise and the weather. Have a good week!
