Friday Favorites – 5/8/20

Happy Friday! Oh, how I love May! It holds such promise of the sunshine and warm weather to come! Summer is just around the corner and we can almost taste it here in Maryland! We had a great week and I’m here to share my favorites!

Favorite 1: BOOKS!! I had so much bookish fun this week! I recorded a book talking session for a NYC public school. My friend Janet asked me to share some book love for students and teachers with a school she is working with and I was so excited!

I shared my favorite post of the year on Tuesday – Summer Beach Reads! It is full of fun, beachy reads and they are good!! I added a few new authors this year, too! Happy reading!!

I finished a great book that comes out July 7th. The Lost and Found Bookshop by Susan Wiggs. Main character Natalie’s mother is killed in a tragic helicopter accident leaving Natalie to take care of her mother’s bookstore and her aging grandfather. This is the life Natalie has been working so hard to avoid, but she keeps finding herself drawn back to San Francisco, the bookstore, and the historical building that holds her family’s history. In this wonderful story about family, books, and doing what your heart tells you to, Natalie solves her family’s mystery and her happily ever after. ☀️ ☀️ ☀️ ☀️. I am telling you about it now so you can get on your library’s hold list if you’re a library user or preorder it if you’d like. I read another Susan Wiggs book last summer and thought it was just as charming. I read The Oysterville Sewing Circle in October and gave it ☀️ ☀️ ☀️ ☀️. It is another family story that involves going back to your roots to find your best future. It is a heartwarming story, perfect to read right now!

Favorite 2: GOLF!! It is no secret that my kids and husband love golf! We have two golf holes and a sand trap in our back yard. My kids participate in an after school golf clinic. Jeff and I both come from a long line of golfing fanatics. So, when my dad called last weekend to announce that Pennsylvania had opened their golf courses AND he got a tee time for four, the boys all cheered!! Then on Wednesday our governor announced that golf courses would open on Thursday at 7 am. Guess what, Jeff and Jack made a quick tee time! Both courses did a great job keeping everyone’s distance and minimizing any contact. It just so happened that Sundays’ and Thursday’s weather were beautiful and they had great days out there!

Favorite 3: OUR SCHOOL!!! I love our school all the time, but this week has been something special!! Our administration and PTA teamed up to make it an amazing teacher appreciation week. They usually spoil us like crazy all week and this work from home week was no different. The students submitted photos with encouraging messages and the PTA made a video with all the pictures. I was literally a sobbing mess to see their sweet faces and messages. We were surprised with these awesome signs for our yards and got some fun surprises in the mail. As a mom, I love our school. Everyone cares so much about the kids. As a teacher, I love our school. The staff works together to do what’s best for each and every student. It’s the perfect combination.

Favorite 4: RUNNING!! I started running again this week. I decided to ease into it since I’m not doing another run streak for the near future. 1200 days in a row was enough. 😉 I am doing a Couch to 10k program. It felt good to run and still feel good afterwards. I took my yellow – joy flower with me on my first run back after 23 days off.

Favorite 5: LUKE!! I spent some time with Luke on Thursday while Jeff had Jack at the golf course. We watched the clouds and played mancala. I always forget how fun that game is.

Favorite 6: OUTSIDE!! This made me laugh. Jack and Luke were playing outside and have matching bandaids on their matching skinned knees. We have been plowing through bandaids with the boys spending so much time outside playing basketball, riding skateboards and bikes, and just running around.

Favorite 7: PLANNERS!! I love my Erin Condren life planner and teacher planner. I am debating switching to the Erin Condren Daily Duo next year. It is 2 six month planners with daily pages, instead of weekly. They are a little thinner and hopefully lighter. I am not sure how I feel about going to a 12 month planner instead of 18 month. I watched way to many planner review videos this week. Do you use a daily planner? Do you have any suggestions??

Favorite 8: MEME! The Corona memes have been so funny. This one caught my eye and made me giggle.

That’s it for the week! I hope you have a great weekend full of sunshine and books!! Happy Mother’s Day out there to all the moms and mother figures out there!!

Oh I just love Susan Wiggs! So happy to hear she has a new book coming out. I can’t wait for our library to open back up and allow us to start requesting things again.

I love Erin Condren too. I keep our family calendar in Cozi but for work and blog planning and projects I am all about Erin Condren.

You look so cute in your outfit. You should join in the Get Dressed Challenge!

Wonderful blog! I found it while surfing around on Yahoo News. Do you have any suggestions on how to get listed in Yahoo News? I’ve been trying for a while but I never seem to get there! Appreciate it
