Friday Favorites – 4/24/20

Happy Friday! This week was a week with ups and downs. We had some big fun and successes and we had tears. This stay at home stuff is hard. It’s not nearly as hard as going to work would be and we are so grateful for everyone who is going to work and doing everything they can do to fight this virus. I am linking up with Andrea and Erika to share my favorites from this week.

Favorite 1: BIRTHDAY LUKE!! We celebrated Luke’s birthday on Sunday and he made the best of his day! He had a zoom chat with some of his school buds. We had a very social distanced lunch with our parents. Our beach buddies did a drive by parade in the afternoon with cookie ice cream sandwiches. I shared 9 things we love about Luke on Monday. Check it out to learn about our little guy!

**Everyone close to someone is related to that person. We social distanced.**

Favorite 2: PICTURES!! One of my neighbors is a photographer. She put something on our neighborhood facebook page that she was going to do social distanced photo shoots just for fun. We took her up on the offer and they turned out great. We stayed in our quarantine uniforms – comfy and cozy – and gave a our biggest smiles in the backyard. It looked like it was supposed to rain, but the skies held out.

Favorite 3: BOOKS!! We got surprise book bags from A Likely Story, my local bookstore, last week. I already read one of my books and I LOVED IT!! The Sweeney Sisters by Lian Dolan comes out on April 28! If you’re looking for something to read, go read this one! It won’t let you down.

The rest of the books look so good, too! It is supposed to rain all day today and most of tomorrow. If you need us, we’ll be reading. Saturday is Independent Bookstore Day! What a great day to order a book from your Indie bookstore. If you don’t have one, contact mine!! They ship everywhere!

Favorite 4: SNUGGLES! We let the boys stay up to watch the beginning of the NFL draft last night. Luke hopped into the big chair with me and we snuggled. He tries to be serious when we take pictures, but he just can’t do it!

Favorite 5: SHOES!! Jack needed some new shoes this week and when they came, we realized his old shoes fit me. How did this happen?? My 11 year old’s feet are the same size as mine. Yikes!! It didn’t help that we got our first email from the middle school this week too!! Oh that boy is growing up quick!

Jack’s old shoes fit my feet!

Favorite 6: COMFY!! I am going on 6 weeks of all elastic waist pants. I’ve tried my jeans on a few times to make sure they still fit, but I’m determined to be comfy. I dug deep this week and broke out this terry-ish Lilly sweatsuit from 2006. I can’t bring myself to get rid of it, but I don’t wear it very often. When Jack saw my outfit, he wasn’t so sure about it but I don’t care. I was comfy!

Favorite 7: NAIL POLISH!! I hadn’t been painting my nails much because I was getting gels at the salon. I am loving painting my nails again. I love that I can change the color as often as I want and it is so relaxing to paint them and have to sit while they dry. I went with mint green this week.

Favorite 8: ONLINE TOOLS!! Even though I’d rather see all our kids and my colleagues in person, there are some pretty great online tools that allow us to see each other’s faces. My school is using Teams and Google Meet to connect with each other. My role as a school librarian has morphed into more of a tech support role than teaching. I am definitely missing the kids, but I do love using Teams/Meet to troubleshoot with students and colleagues. It’s just nice to see their faces! One of our teachers created a flip grid for the staff to catch up with each other. We are making little videos to share with each other. I am envisioning some fun challenges and other games on there too.

That’s all for the week. I hope you are all staying healthy – physically and mentally! Have a great weekend full of sunshine and books!

Pretty sure I had a similar Lilly sweatsuit! If it gives you comfort, my 13 year old has bigger feet than me and mine are not small. I always say Hockey Guy is like a puppy…big feet and then the body grows.

    Stay well,

So glad you were still able to make his day so special for him! Those books look good; love that everyone has a nice stack to pick from.
