Hello Monday – 3/23/20

Hello everyone and happy Monday! We are starting week 2 of everyone at home. We started to find a groove last week and I am hoping that our days will be smooth this week. I told you last week that we are taking this seriously, but I am constantly looking for the silver linings. Here’s what I found this weekend.

We are spending pretty much all of our time at home. We’ve been to the high school track a few times. There are more people there than usual but we have been able to maintain a safe 6+ foot distance from anyone. Jack and Jeff played golf a few times. They play as a twosome, walk the course, and book/pay completely online. It has been a major boost to everyone’s spirit.

We have been spending a TON of time outside. The boys have been playing every sport we have the equipment for. I am so thankful that our yard looks like a rec center. We have soccer and lacrosse goals, a basketball hoop, a baseball net, a golf driving range net, a lacrosse bounce back, and a golf hole. I often think it looks ridiculous, but I am so thankful for it right now. Getting outside and playing is keeping the boys’ spirits up.

We’ve been doing some inside things too. We finished a puzzle in about 24 hours this weekend. Jeff found this fun USA puzzle in our rainy day stash. The kids loved it!!

I finished my second book yesterday. I read Always the Last to Know by Kristan Higgins. It was my first Kristin Higgins book and I loved it! I have another one of hers on my to read shelf and I can’t wait to read it. This is a family story where each person finds out that someone has a secret that affects them. Barb and John Frost have been married for 50 years when she decides she wants a divorce. Barb is going to tell John when she gets home, but he has a stroke while riding his bike and she can’t. Their youngest daughter Sadie comes home from NYC and runs into her first true love. Their oldest daughter Juliet has started having panic attacks and is unsure of her relationships and her career. I loved how Higgins throws you into the Frost family’s lives and works you through all of their troubles. The book ends with everyone one getting what is exactly right for them, but it not at all what I expected. I give it ☀️ ☀️ ☀️ ☀️ ☀️. The book will be published on June 9. Go read it when it comes out! **I got a free copy from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.**

I started watching What About Bob? And I am laughing like crazy! It’s a great mood booster!

Jeff’s Home School continued with a lesson on the 2008 US Open. Tiger reigned supreme with a hurt knee and an 18 hole playoff. It was good stuff! The boys are loving Jeff’s Home School and look forward to it every night.

I’ve been trying to walk and run about 5 miles a day. I am running some on my treadmill, but I really benefit from getting some sunshine on my cheeks. Jeff and I are keeping up our walk around the neighborhood. I’m taking a solo walk each day. We are also taking a family walk each night. There have been 2 days that I didn’t get close to 5 miles and I could definitely tell. The sun, the fresh air, burning through the stress, and the endorphins are a big positive.

I ran with my /purple/ no excuses flower on Sunday. It was cool, but sunny and I know I need to get out there!

Luke and a bunch of 3rd graders have been doing Zoom chats every other day and he has so much fun doing it! I had a Zoom chat with some of my girlfriends on Sunday afternoon and I had so much fun doing it! Jack’s buddies have devices so they’ve been FaceTiming to keep in touch. Jeff’s been texting a bunch with his friends too. We are all working hard to keep our social interactions going. Thank goodness for technology is all I have to say!!

We are starting our second week of learning at home from the initial packets. I am hoping to find out what our actual distance learning will look like in the next week. I’m trying to wrap my head around what elementary media looks like online. I’m not making any official lesson plans until I hear more from my county.

We are keeping our hopes up that more people will STAY HOME!! Social distancing can really help keep us all safe. Thank you to all the health care workers that are going to work every day taking care of patients and keeping people alive. We appreciate everything you do!!

Stay home and stay safe friends! Wash your hands. Don’t touch your face. Keep your distance. I hope your day is full of sunshine and books!!

I’m linking up with Tanya and the Hello Monday girls.

We have been doing puzzles and getting outside as much as possible here too. They have announced some shelter in place guidelines in other parts of the state, but we are already doing it here. Take care.

My husband is still working so we’re just keeping up our normal-ish routine just obviously not meeting up with any friends anywhere. We are adding in more hiking and outdoor time though (when it’s not snowing like it did today!).
