Enchant Christmas – 12/17/19

Happy Tuesday! We had a super fun weekend!! My sister and her fiancé were home for Christmas with my dad’s family AND we had a fun Christmas overnight that ended with a snow day!

After the boys’ basketball games on Saturday morning, we piled in the minivan and headed south for Christmas with my dad’s side of the family. It is always good to see my aunts, uncles, and cousins that can come. My dad has a big family – 5 brothers and sisters – and there are 13 cousins in my generation. A bunch of us are married or engaged and we have a bunch of kids so the group can get pretty big! Everyone didn’t make it this year, but we still had a great time! It was Annie’s first time coming home for this Christmas celebration. My uncle makes the best deer wrapped bacon snacks and my boys can’t get enough of them!

The boys and I decided to spend the night at my parents on Saturday because it was a later night and I wanted to spend more time with my sister. Jeff joined us on Sunday morning to open presents. My mom found another fabulous White Christmas themed T-shirt for us this year.

Last year Mom found Columbia Inn shirts. 😍

We headed home midday to get ready for our Christmas overnight. Every year we go look at lights somewhere. We’ve been to Symphony of Lights, Hershey Park Sweet Lights, Zoo Lights, and this year Enchant Christmas!!

Jeff is attending a conference at the Gaylord National in National Harbor. They do the ICE show there, but we’ve done it twice so I decided we would try something different in Washington, DC. I’d seen ads for Enchant Christmas all over social media and got so excited. There is a maze where you have to find all the reindeer, a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus, yummy food and drinks, and a Christmas market. They had an ice skating trail, but the wait was over 45 minutes and it wasn’t real ice so we decided to skip it.

After getting there, we went right into the maze. There were SO MANY LIGHTS and everyone’s face lit up when we saw it.

At the beginning of the maze, they gave us a card telling the story of the maze: There was a terrible storm at the North Pole, and it caused my reindeer to end up getting lost inside Enchant. We have tried looking for them, but need more help if we hope to find them and bring them home in time for Christmas. Will you please join me in the great search? The card also had a scratch off circle for each reindeer you could find. We headed in to find those reindeer.

There was a beautiful light room and some light displays to take pictures in.

After finding all the reindeer, the boys filled out the back of their cards with their Santa wish lists and mailed them off.

We found Santa and Mrs. Claus, too.

We had some tasty hot chocolate and a light up light bulb cocktail.

The market had some really unique shops and others that seemed like the stands in the middle of the mall. We didn’t buy anything but had fun browsing.

After we left Enchant, we drove through the waterfront in National Harbor. The tree is so beautiful! So many lights!!

When we got to our room, we had a great view of the lights in the tree and the giant eye/Ferris wheel. The next morning we headed down to breakfast. I was hoping to do some of the Christmas activities, but they didn’t open until 12 or 1. We rode the elevator all the way to the top for a lovely view of the atrium, took a few pictures with the star tree, and headed home.

The boys wanted to head home and get some time to play in the snow after seeing some videos of their buddies playing. They played the snow football game they invented years ago and built a tiny snow man.

We have 4 days of school until break and I am hoping this three day weekend was enough to recharge us to get us through. See you tomorrow for What’s Up Wednesday. Have a great day full of sunshine and books!!

Linking up with Erika for Tuesday Talk.
