What’s Up Wednesday – 11/27/19

Happy Thanksgiving Eve! Years ago this meant out partying with friends I hadn’t seen in a long time, but tonight it means swim team practice and going to bed early because we have a busy day tomorrow. I’m linking up with Shay and Sheaffer to share what we’ve been up to lately. Here we go…

WHAT WE’RE EATING THIS WEEK…
Sunday: nothing, we had a late lunch in DC at Old Ebbitt Grill
Monday: pizza – Jeff had a hankering for some GF pizza so we went to Mod
Tuesday: leftovers
Wednesday: bbq chicken sandwiches
Thursday: Turkey, Turkey, Turkey
Friday: I have no idea
Saturday: Out for the Electric Lights Parade

I talked about Mrs. Geiss’ dish the other day and shared the recipe yesterday. It’s quick, easy, and one of my childhood favorites!

WHAT I’M REMINISCING ABOUT…

All of our turkey trots. The boys have been riding or trotting for 8 years!!

We went to see Aladdin last night. On the way the kids were taking about how much fun we had at The Lion King!

WHAT I’M LOVING…

Little boys in blazers😍

WHAT WE’VE BEEN UP TO…
On Saturday evening, my parents and some friends joined us for one of our local high school plays. They were performing White Christmas and they nailed it. My mom and I are pretty tough critics because we’ve practically memorized the movie and have seen the musical also. In fact, my mom has worn out VHS tapes and DVDs of the movie. She and my aunt are the true experts, but the rest of the family has a pretty strong knowledge of all things White Christmas. Of course we wore our shirts to go to the show!
We headed to DC on Sunday to visit with two of my college roommates. It was so nice to see them and I felt like we picked up right where we left off. I could have spent 3 days with them and still had more to say/do. I brought the boys and my roommate brought her kids. It was pretty awesome how the kids fell right into step with each other and were playing, laughing, and running around together like they see each other every day! ❤️
Luke had a tooth pulled out his orthodontist appointment on Monday. It was completely unexpected and he wasn’t so sure about it. The tooth was very wiggly and needed to come out. I encouraged him with a promise of frozen yogurt if he was a good sport about it. They numbed his gum and then the tooth popped right out with just a little wiggle. That hole in his smile is so cute!

I met my friend Kelly the other night and it was lovely. We couldn’t remember how long it had been since we’d seen each other, so that means it was WAY TOO LONG!! We sat and talked for hours and it was so so good!

WHAT I’M DREADING…
I’m not really dreading anything except how short the time between Thanksgiving and Christmas is. I love a long Christmas season to squeeze in all the fun. This year we only have a few November days after Thanksgiving. Don’t worry! We’ll still have all the fun, it will just be a little compressed!

WHAT I’M WORKING ON…
Early mornings! I am trying to get up before work every day to get my exercise in. I started last week and it makes our evenings so much easier. I don’t have to figure out when I am going to run or do anything else. My goal for the Holiday Challenge is to get my 30 minutes in before school every day for the rest of 2019.

WHAT I’M EXCITED ABOUT…
I am excited about CHRISTMAS!! I have been watching Hallmark movies and listening to the Amazon Prime station Classical Christmas for weeks, but I am ready to go whole hog Christmas. I can’t wait to decorate, listen to Christmas music all the time, and see all the decorations around town!!

WHAT I’M WATCHING/READING…
I’ve been watching nothing but Hallmark movies. I’ve been keeping track on the app and I’ve seen 42/96 movies in all. Don’t worry, I am doing other things. I marked off any movie I’ve ever seen, not just the movies I’ve seen this year.
We are even playing Hallmark Christmas Movie Bingo.
I’ll soon be watching all of my favorite Christmas movies: Christmas Vacation, White Christmas, Elf, and Four Christmases come to mind first.

I’ve started reading Christmas books so I can hopefully read at least 7 this year. I finished Let It Snow by Nancy Thayer recently. It was lovely! A perfect winter beach read!WHAT I’M LISTENING TO…
Billy Joel station has been playing pretty much nonstop in our car. We love rocking out to his music!!
I’ve been sprinkling in some Dolly Parton radio, too, but the boys don’t love it quite as much as Billy Joel.

WHAT I’M WEARING…
I have been wearing the heck out of my Cora’s Den necklaces, especially this pumpkin one because I only have 1 more day to wear it.
I’ve been rocking my Thanksgiving shirts (see Gobble Gobble Gobble above).

WHAT I’M DOING THIS WEEKEND…
Jack has a basketball tournament so we’ll cheer him on!
My cousin and her kiddos are in town for Thanksgiving so I’m hoping we’ll get to see them on Saturday.
We are going to watch the Electric Lights Parade, if the weather holds out, in my home town with my parents.

WHAT I’M LOOKING FORWARD TO THIS MONTH…
I am looking forward to the Fellow Flowers Holiday Challenge. I shared everything I love about it on Monday. I hope you’ll join me and intentionally move your body for 30 minutes every day from Thanksgiving through New Year’s Day!

WHAT ELSE IS NEW…
Nothing else. I’m going to try to share some of my favorite Christmas books and an easy crockpot recipe next week so come on back to see them! Of course I’ll be here Friday sharing my favorites from the week! Have a great day full of sunshine and books!

Awww. I’m Canadian so we had Thanksgiving in October, but this reminded me of Turkey Trots we used to do when we lived in another province when our kids were small. Thanks for the memories 🙂

Also, I LOVE all those necklaces. They are so fun and cute!!!

Our town has a holiday light parade this coming weekend too but our weather is supposed to be absolutely miserable so we’re thinking of staying home with a fire, a movie, and some freshy baked treats instead.
