Day 1000 – 10/2/19

Happy October! Our kids had off school on Monday and Tuesday this week so I took some time to enjoy no schedule and free time! Here we are on Day 1005 of my run streak and I am recapping the Day 1000 celebrations!

It’s kinda funny because I am so excited for Day 1000 in my run streak and I am really proud to have stuck with this for so long. On the other hand, it doesn’t feel like such a big deal because it is just something I do every day like brushing my teeth or having dinner. It has become a part of who I am.

I have been thinking about how my streak might end. I am not sure how it’s going to happen. I don’t want the streak to end because I am hurt or sick or cannot run. I want it to end because I choose to end the streak. We have a treadmill in our basement, a gym membership, and great neighborhoods and paths to run where my kids have sports practice. There is no good excuse for me to stop running, aside from “I don’t want to”. But I do want to keep running, so hopefully there is no end in sight.

Magically, on a Friday night, there weren’t any events scheduled at the high school track. A few girlfriends and I met there because our kids could all play while we ran. I turned on some fun music and off we went! It was wonderful to run together.

Jodi picked up 1000 balloons and tied them to the fence to inspire us as we ran by.

After our mile, we headed over to Kourtni’s for a champagne toast and cookies. It was so lovely!!

I was so grateful to the girls and everyone who ran along with me and sent such sweet messages on Day 1000! Thank you!! #day1000runwithsarah

Earlier this summer, a few friends and I decided that we wanted to run a half marathon this fall. I started training and looking for a half marathon that I wanted to run and worked for our schedules. When we couldn’t find one, Jodi and I decided to run a homemade half around town on Saturday morning.

It was Day 1001 and I thought I would be feeling great. I couldn’t have been more wrong. I felt terrible and at mile 4 I sat down. I was pretty sure that I wasn’t going to finish that run. Jodi was so inspiring, told me to get up, and push push pushed me to keep going. We ended up using a 5 minute run / 1 minute walk interval and that helped a bunch. We finished with a few laps around the track and a little over a mile downhill. We ended up in the middle of a traffic circle while we waited for Jodi’s fabulous husband to pick our sweaty, tired selves up and take us home.

After that run, I have decided that I am going to take a month and do a “Month of One Mile” runs. I am going to try some different exercises and give my body a little variety and rest. We’ll see where the month takes me.

If you need me, I’ll be running this morning and I trying some fun new exercises this afternoon. Have a great day full of sunshine and books!

Linking up with Lindsay and the girls for Welcome Wednesday.
