Happy Wednesday! I can’t believe it’s the last day of July already. We packed a bunch of fun in this month and are excited to keep the fun going in August! Here’s what’s up!
WHAT WE’RE EATING THIS WEEK…
We are eating from the freezer as much as possible for the next two weeks. We have a freezer full of beef from the cow portion that we buy and haven’t made much of a dent in it yet this year.
Monday – Meatballs
Tuesday – Taco Tuesday at Los Aztecas
Wednesday – Stuffed peppers/taco salad
Thursday – Fajitas
Friday – Something soft for Luke’s mouth
Saturday – We’ll see what the freezer has to offer
Sunday – Steaks on the grill
WHAT I’M REMINISCING ABOUT…
I haven’t really been reminiscing about much lately. I am loving this sweet spot of independence, yet still wanting to read/snuggle with me. 8 and 10 are pretty great ages and I am trying to soak up every moment of my two boys!
WHAT I’M LOVING…
All the sunshine!!!! We have been outside at the pool, the beach, and in the mountains this month. I love spending the time with my family and friends in the warm, fresh air!
I got my haircut this week and I always have it blown out straight when I get it cut. I was loving the 15 hours of straight hair before the humidity, sweat from running and classes, and pool got to my hair.
WHAT WE’VE BEEN UP TO…
I have been attending the 5:30 am body pump class at the gym and I love it! I am really going to miss it when school starts back up. I love being finished my workout and home by 7 so I am ready to focus on the fun for the day!
We went to the beach last week with 4 other families. We all have 2 boys between 7 and 10 years old. It is so much fun on the beach for the kids and parents. Be sure to check back later this week for a recap of the fun.
Swim team pretty much rules our July. The kids have practice every weekday, meets every Saturday, and some extra meets during the week. Jack and Luke had a wonderful season and I am so proud of them. I shadowed our swim team reps this year and I am going to be signing on to help next year.
Luke is at soccer camp this week with most of his team. They are so cute in the camp uniforms! It has been HOT this week but he’s hanging tough and having fun!
WHAT I’M DREADING…
Luke is starting his orthodontic journey and gets an upper expander on Friday morning. I am not looking forward to turning that thing every day and trying to figure out what is easy for Luke to eat with it. Jack had a rough bit when he got his bite plate/expander, but I am hoping that was mostly related to the bite plate.
WHAT I’M WORKING ON…
Trying to squeeze as much summer into the next month. Both boys are in golf camp next week and I am going to try to go do my summer hours for work for part of each day. I’ve got my fingers crossed that I can get in the building.
I’m working on planning/writing some blog posts for August so I don’t fall asleep without writing one most days.
WHAT I’M EXCITED ABOUT…
I am going to see my sister, Annie, in a few weeks. My parents and I are heading to Atlanta to see her new spot and visit. Even though we talk or text a bunch, I can’t wait to see her! Jamie and I are going to run our next Fellow Flowers virtual run this month. I am excited about that too! Even though we text every single day, it’s nice to get out for a run together and talk in person!!
WHAT I’M WATCHING/READING…
I have been reading a bunch this month. My reviews are coming soon and I have a bunch of fun summer reads to share with you.
Jack and I are reading Hoot by Carl Hiaasen together and Luke and I are reading Sideways Stories From Wayside School by Louis Sachar together. Those are 2 of my favorites and have been great fits for both boys!
WHAT I’M LISTENING TO…
We’ve been enjoying Radio Margaritaville all month. It is the perfect summer soundtrack with beach music. Jeff went to the 311 concert last weekend and we’ve been singing/listening to their new album and some Dirty Heads songs too.
I spent some time listening to 90’s hits before and after the 90’s Mix Tape tour concert. New Kids on the Block, Salt-n-Peppa, Naughty By Nature, Tiffany, and Debbie Gibson put on an amazing show!!
WHAT I’M WEARING…
Bathing suits, bathing suits, bathing suits. I had great luck at Title Nine for bathing suits last summer and they are holding strong this summer too. I am going to try to pick up one more this month if they have an end of season sale, but I love their suits!
I’ve been wearing tons of Skirt Sports skirts this month for their 31 Days of Skirts. I didn’t participate every day, but I tried to do some.
My summer clothes are my favorite clothes. I am going to try to wear more clothes next month while it is still hot because I didn’t wear many clothes this month. It has been all the bathing suits, cover ups, and workout clothes.
WHAT I’M DOING THIS WEEKEND…
We have a meeting for Jack’s travel baseball team – how is it baseball time already?!? I am hoping to spend Saturday afternoon at the pool with our family and friends relaxing. Sunday is a completely blank rectangle in my planner. I love going and doing fun things, but those blank rectangles make me pretty happy sometimes!
WHAT I’M LOOKING FORWARD TO NEXT MONTH…
I know that my kids are looking forward to Camp Gigi next month, even though it means school is starting soon. My mom surprises the boys each day with something new to do. She doesn’t even tell me what’s happening each day. It is a fun way for them to spend the last week of summer before school while I’m working.
Jack has his next round of the Drive, Chip, and Putt competition in August. He’s been playing a bunch of golf and practicing his skills.
WHAT ELSE IS NEW…
I think that is about it for this month! We are ready to soak up one more month of summer before the rush of school/sports/routine hits us hard on September 3rd.
Have a great day full of sunshine and books!!
