Friday Favorites – 6/28/19

Summer Sarah is officially back! She’s so back that I forgot that today was Friday! 😂 I am linking up with Erika and the gang to share my favorites from this week.

Favorite 1: BOOKS!! I finished 2 books and started a third this week. I loved the two I finished – A Hundred Summers by Beatriz Williams and Sunset Beach by Mary Kay Andrews. Beatriz Williams is a fabulous historical fiction writer and this was a great one! I love how Mary Kay Andrews mixes a beach novel with a mystery. This was a really good one! If you’re looking for a book to read, try one of these! I am a little over halfway through Queen Bee by Dorothea Benton Frank and I can’t put it down. I bet I’ll finish it by the end of the week. I love how quick beach reads are, but it makes me a little sad to be finishing them so quickly. #readerproblems

Favorite 2: INSTASTORIES! I just figured out instagram stories and it’s so easy to add to them. I shared our summer day yesterday and it was a great way to document the day. Check it out before it disappears – @sunnscp.

Favorite 3: VACATIONS!! We headed to Deep Creek Lake in Western Maryland for a quick trip to join the Parsons for some fun. The kids jumped off the dock, swam in the lake, and we hiked to see a bunch of waterfalls. It was so fun!

Favorite 4: POOL TIME! The pool has been a double favorite this week. The kids been playing in the pool together, with me, and with friends. Then they head off to camp for two hours and I get two interrupted hours by myself to read and relax. After camp, they come right back and jump in the pool to cool off. It’s been wonderful!

Favorite 5: CAMP!! Our local high school has a fabulous 2 hour basketball camp in the afternoon. It is my favorite camp of the summer. It is the first full week after school gets out so I have 2 hours to myself every day to get fully into summer mode. I can read, make lists, get organized, and relax. I don’t have to pack a lunch or get up early. They don’t miss swim team practice and it doesn’t rush dinner. Jack and Luke know some of the counselors and they really look up to them. It is pretty much perfect.

That’s about it for Summer Sarah’s first Friday Favorites. So you know, Summer Sarah is my alternate persona. She only comes out in the summer and she’s a real good time. She makes sure the kids are fed (at some point) and clean (pool baths count some days). She is always ready for some fun. She goes to the grocery store occasionally (grocery pick up may help this summer) and she can feed the family out of anything in the fridge/pantry. It may not make sense or go together, but there will be something that can be called breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Everyone LOVES Summer Sarah!! I hope you do too because she’s here until August 25, or maybe she’ll stick around until Labor Day this year. 😎

Have a great weekend full of sunshine and books!

Beautiful waterfalls! I LOVED Queen Bee and seeing how much all the characters grew by the end of the book.
