Friday Favorites – 6/14/19

Happy Last Friday of School!! Please note, I did not say Happy Last Day of School because we still have 2 more days next week. It has been a crazy week with practices, games, meetings, and end of year stuff. I am hoping to get back on track with more regular posts next week (or maybe the week after).

I am linking up with Erika and the girls to share my Friday Favorites from our almost last day of school.

Favorite 1: AUTHORS!! I met Dorothea Benton Frank yesterday and she was so funny! I loved everything she had to say about writing, her newest book (named a Summer Beach Book by me!), Southern expressions, and her true love for the low country of South Carolina and Georgia. I have a few trips planned to the low country in the next few months and am getting pretty excited to visit after Dottie’s talk. My most favorite of her books is The Hurricane Sisters, but I’ve read them all and they are fabulous beach books!!

Favorite 2: BASEBALL!! On Tuesday evening, both boys had 6 o’clock baseball games in the same park. Jeff and I trekked back and forth watching the boys play. It was so convenient and I really appreciated not having to miss a game for either of them.

Favorite 3: BOOKS!! My to read pile is growing exponentially this month. I just started a book I’ve had since last year, A Hundred Summers by Beatriz Williams. I am hoping to be finished it by Wednesday so I can start my Summer Beach Books when the school year is officially over! On Tuesday evening, we have our first meeting of the FSC Book Club. We decided to have a book club at our pool this summer. Our first book is That Month in Tuscany by Inglath Cooper. I really liked it and can’t wait to hear what the rest of the group thinks.

Favorite 4: PIE!! As an incentive to be diligent workers on state testing this year, students earned tickets to be entered in a pie in the face competition. Teachers volunteered to be pied and the students got to pick which teacher they wanted to pie. I got pied a few times and it was so fun!! All of the kids were so into it and it was definitely a great motivator to work hard!

Favorite 5: SUNSHINE! The sun has been shining like crazy lately! I’ve gotten outside to run a bunch and it feels so good! I put two runs together to get 8 miles done in preparation for Day 900 on Wednesday, June 19.

Favorite 6: MULLETS!! My boys have decided that they want mullets. Our sweet hair stylist, Ms. Giselle, thinks it is amazing and is all about the mullets on the boys. My friend was in Murrell’s Inlet last week and found this restaurant. I know they mullet is referring to a fish, but I think I need one of these shirts because I live in the mullet hut too! 😂

This was definitely a fun week, but I am ready for the slowdown of summer! Only a few more days before we’ll be in full vacation, relaxation, and fun mode. I hope you have a great weekend full of sunshine and books!
