It’s the second Tuesday of the month so I am linking up with Jana and Steph to share my recent reads.
I read some great books in February and can’t wait to share what I read this month.
I read The Southern Side of Paradise by Kristy Woodson Harvey this month. It comes out on May 7th and I loved it! I give it ☀️ ☀️ ☀️ ☀️ ☀️!
I reviewed it here. It is the third book in the Peachtree Bluff series and does a perfect job telling youngest sister Emerson’s story. If you haven’t read the first two books in the series, Slightly South of Simple and The Secret to Southern Charm, I highly recommend them. Read them before May so you are ready for The Southern Side of Paradise!
I read The Proposal by Jasmine Guillory and thought it was good. I give it ☀️ ☀️ ☀️ ☀️. I didn’t read the description before I read it but I’d heard a lot about Jasmine Guillory so I jumped right into the book. It was definitely a little racier than the other books I read but I didn’t think it got in the way of the book. I had no idea it was a sequel to The Wedding Date, but I have it on my kindle and want to read it soon. I also have The Wedding Party by Guillory and think it may be the third in the series. Are you noticing something? I love to read series because I am always curious to see what happens to the characters after the book ends.
I read Your Second Life Begins When You Realize You Only Have One by Raphaelle Giordano. I gave it ☀️ ☀️ ☀️ ☀️. I wasn’t really sure what to expect when I picked this book up. The novel was originally written in French and has been translated to English. It was described as a charming novel about a woman in her late 30’s (like me) who was feeling like there had to be more to life than just this. She was stuck in the monotony of raising a child, working, and trying to take care of her household. She stumbles upon a routinologist who challenges her to think about the choices she makes and take charge of her own happiness. The beginning read like a self-help book and I wasn’t so sure about it, but it definitely got better. I would say it turned into a charming novel.
I finally finished my blind date book this month. I read Cold Feet by Amy FitzHenry. I give it ☀️ ☀️ ☀️ ☀️. I was excited to read this because Debbie at A Likely Story, my local bookstore, recommended it and seemed excited when she found an author in this genre I hadn’t read or even heard of. Debbie made a great recommendation. I really enjoyed it. The main character Emma is getting married in a week and realizes that she’s not sure marriage is for her. Emma and her best friend Liv head off to a relaxing week at the spa but decide to abandon their plans and search for Emma’s father who she has never met. There are a bunch of twists to the story that make it a good romantic comedy type of book. It’s a good easy read. Enjoy!
In book related news, I was excited to meet Kate Quinn last week. I am almost embarrassed to admit that I haven’t read The Alice Network because pretty much everyone I know has read it and raved about it. I am excited to start it and to read The Huntress, her new book.
Kate’s appearance was in conversation with Greer Macallister. I am looking forward to reading her new book Woman 99. I am pretty bummed to miss Greer’s appearance at A Likely Story this Sunday.
Have a great day full of sunshine and books! Please add your book recommendations in the comments!
Thank you for sharing- I love all of your book recommendations and adding them to my Kindle!
Yay you for getting to meet Kate Quinn. Super cool!
That’s so exciting that you met a few authors recently!! I’m always hoping one will stop by a local bookstore, but it happens pretty infrequently.
Oh how fun that you got to meet Kate Quinn! I did love The Alice Network.
I am dying to get my hands on The Huntress, I loved The ALice Network. I didn’t realize the Proposal was the sequel either, Ill have to read it!
ooh you have The Wedding Party?! i’m so jealous! my request is still pending. i loved the wedding date but a lot of my friends didn’t.. i liked the proposal, but not as much. her books are a bit odd in the sense that she has, like, closed door romance scenes but a lot of them. so it’s too steamy for a lot of people, but not steamy enough for romance fans haha. kate quinn! how exciting. i haven’t read either of those books but they are on my list.
So awesome to meet Kate Quinn! I love author events.
I read the Wedding Date but haven’t read The Proposal yet. And I love it when I find a good series. It’s like reconnecting with old friends and I won’t lie – I squeal with joy when a new book in favorite series gets released. So cool that you go to meet Kate Quinn!
I haven’t read the Alice Network, if that helps.
I love the idea of book blind dates. I need to work that into my life somehow.
Eeeekkkk!! Thank you so much for the wonderful review! I am so happy you enjoyed The Southern Side of Paradise 🙂 🙂 Would you mind if I shared that cute graphic? Thanks for making my day! xoxo
You are so welcome to share the graphic! I just loved the books!!
I have all the wedding books in que and forgot that there were more to the southern ones…thanks for the reminder!
Kate Quinn came here as well, I didn’t get a chance to go though! I liked The Proposal, and I liked it more than The Wedding Date! 🙂 I did not enjoy the second chance one. The blind date book sounds cute, I will add it to my TBR! : ) XO – Alexandra
