Friday Favorites – 12/21/18

It is the last Friday before Christmas and I am excited!! I am linking up with Erika, Narci, and Andrea to share my favorites from this week.

In case you were wondering, we have FIVE FULL DAYS of school this week. Did you get that? FIVE FULL DAYS in an elementary school this week. Here’s hoping I am still standing at 2:15 today!

Favorite 1: JACK’S BAND AND CHOIR CONCERT!! I am so proud of Jack! He had his first band and chorus concert this week. He has been practicing his trumpet for 10 weeks and was so proud to play his 3 songs in the concert. My boy played his heart out!

All of the fourth graders are in chorus in the fall. They sing and dance to winter holiday music. Jack was a little nervous but he did a super job! Really, all of those kiddos did a great job!

Jack’s fan club and cheering section 🙂

Favorite 2: ONE DAY IN DECEMBER!! I just finished this book last night and I LOVED IT!! It is a Reese’s Book Club selection and she didn’t steer us wrong this month! This book is about Laurie and Jack. They caught each other’s eye one day in December when Laurie was on a crowded London bus and Jack was sitting at the bus stop. Their lives intertwine throughout 10 years. The story is so lovely! Josie Silver did an incredible job making you feel the love, the anguish, the excitement, and friendship between the characters. It’s not necessarily a Christmas book, so you have the whole rest of the month to read it! Go read this book!!! If you’re local, you are welcome to borrow my copy! Check out my 2018 books here.

Favorite 3: HOLIDAY GRAPHIC TEES!! We’ve had some holiday theme days this week so I have been loving all my festive shirts. Some of these are long enough to wear with leggings and others are perfect with my jeans. When we have FIVE FULL DAYS of school the week before Christmas, I need some comfy attire!!

Favorite 4: JOLABOKAFLOD!! I am teaching about Jolabokaflod this week. My students are learning so much about Iceland and enjoying cozy reading time. It is the perfect way to spend a half an hour together. We have lights all over the Media Center, a fireplace going on the smart board, and students falling in love with cozy, reading time. In fact, I got a message from a parent saying that her child said “Today was the best media class EVER!” Mission accomplished!

Favorite 5: THESE TWO! I love starting my day with these two! Our morning have been a little rushed so they’ve been eating breakfast in the Media Center. I even bought a half gallon of milk to keep in my school refrigerator to make breakfast a little easier this week. They are too funny each morning talking about their days. A lot of my fellow staff members walk through the Media Center and the boys love to talk about their breakfasts with them. I like to think it brings a smile to everyone’s face.

That’s it for the week. I am excited to see my sister and have some Christmas fun with my family. We are going to make cookies, have yummy dinners, and catch up. I started reading Christmas Camp and hope to get some of that read before Christmas. I hope everyone has a great day full of sunshine and books!

I love that you did that with your boy’s breakfast. That would bring a smile to my face. We were out on Wednesday, I am praying for you today friend! I cannot wait to read that book and I am glad that I have the rest of the month to get it done. Thank you for your recommendation. That book has been on my list and I need a new one now!

I’d love to sit in the library and read all day especially with the twinkling Christmas lights! That book sounds like something I’d really enjoy… requesting it right now from our library. Thanks!! Merry Christmas!
