What’s Up Wednesday – 12/19/18

Hello! It’s What’s Up Wednesday a week early. I am linking up with Mel, Shay, and Sheaffer to share what’s up with the Parsons.

Here are the questions I’ll be answering:

WHAT WE’RE EATING THIS WEEK…
Sunday: rotisserie chicken, broccoli, homemade applesauce, and Pioneer Woman mashed potatoes (They were fine, but the Parsons prefer Bob Evans)
Monday: The kids had parties at religious ed so there was no official dinner
Tuesday: Mississippi Pot Roast, minus the peppers
Wednesday: Leftovers
Thursday: Spaghetti
Friday: Taquitos
Saturday: Out
Sunday: Not sure right now…

WHAT I’M REMINISCING ABOUT…
I have been reminiscing about the kids’ Christmas programs!
Jack was Joseph

Luke in the 3’s program. In the 4’s program Luke was the holy donkey, you know, the one that Mary rode to Bethlehem. Luke’s buddy was playing Mary and he was adamant that Mary MUST ride the donkey. The teachers and I were worried that he might try to get Mary to ride on his back as he was walking up to the stage. 😂

I am also loving looking back at Santa pictures! These sweet boys!!

WHAT I’M LOVING…
I am LOVING all of the Christmas lights that I see everywhere! They bring me such joy! I am also loving all the Christmas music and movies!! They make all the everyday stuff seem wonderful!!

WHAT WE’VE BEEN UP TO…
We have been doing everything we can to celebrate Christmas. We are living Christmas cheer!
We went to Hershey Park’s Christmas Candy Lane.

We saw Santa on the fire truck.

We saw the Nutcracker Ballet.

We drove around with milkshakes to look at Christmas lights.

We went to Zoo Lights at the National Zoo.

We watched Christmas Vacation and Elf.

We’ve been to fun Christmas parties with friends.

We celebrated Christmas with my dad’s family.

WHAT I’M DREADING…
Nothing!! Christmas is coming! My sister Annie is coming to visit! We have a week off school! There is nothing to dread there!!

WHAT I’M WORKING ON…
I am working on our Dino Readers school wide book club. I am reading as much as I can, which isn’t that much because I keep falling asleep. I am working on finishing up Christmas!

WHAT I’M EXCITED ABOUT…
Jack has his first band and chorus concert tonight and I cannot wait! Luke and I will get a sneak peak at the school perfomance this morning, but all 4 grandparents, Jeff, Luke, and I will be there tonight for the show!
I am pretty excited for Christmas! Christmas is the one holiday that we stay home and our parents come to us. I love it! It’s so nice to just be home. Christmas Eve dinner is probably my favorite meal of the year! I am pretty excited for that!

WHAT I’M WATCHING/READING…
I am reading and watching all things Christmas!! Currently I am watching Love Actually for the first time. GASP!! I know, I can’t believe I haven’t watched it yet either. I pretty much watch Hallmark every evening while I am getting things done around the house and while I am falling asleep. I am almost finished One Day in December by Josie Silver and I am loving it. I still have a stack of 4 Christmas books to read this week. I am pretty sure it’s not going to happen. I shared the books I have been reading here. Check it out!

WHAT I’M LISTENING TO…
All things Christmas again! Are you sensing a theme?? 😊 In the car, I am listening to our 2 local stations that play all Christmas music and Holly (channel 4) and Hallmark (channel 70) on Sirius XM radio. At school, I love the Amazon Prime stations and playlists. My favorites are Holiday Lights, Candy Coated Christmas, 90s Christmas, Frank Sinatra Christmas, and Christmas Happy Hour.

WHAT I’M WEARING…
I work my new Sheaffer top to a Christmas party this weekend and I love it with my plaid pants!

I have been rocking my after school winter uniform: leggings, long sleeve T-shirt or sweatshirt, sneakers and a vest.

I am loving my Christmas sneakers. I think they are the shoes I wear that get the most comments!

I have been wearing some fun graphic t-shirts for Christmas and winter.

WHAT I’M DOING THIS WEEKEND…
My sister is coming to visit for Christmas! We are baking cookies on Saturday and I am pretty excited!

I need to go to the grocery store. My plan is to be there by 7 am on Saturday morning with a good list in my hand!
I am not sure what we are doing on Sunday but we will be with my parents and sister during the day.
On Sunday night, Kourtni, Jodi, and I are joining our local running group to do a Christmas Lights Run. I am so excited to run amongst the lights!! I have the perfect shoes for it!

WHAT I’M LOOKING FORWARD TO NEXT MONTH…
We joined the gym where the boys swim and I am excited to figure out which classes are going to work for me. Luke and Jack have more basketball games and I love watching them play! I have a girls weekend at the beach and I can’t wait for that too!

WHAT ELSE IS NEW…
I think that’s about it for now. Choo Choo, our elf, is keeping us on our toes this year. The boys keep asking him to hide in hard places but it causes a bit of stress on school mornings.

BONUS QUESTION: WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE LAST MINUTE GIFT IDEA?
If the person is local, I love to give a fun bookmark and a gift certificate to the bookstore. If they aren’t local, I always have a few fun notepads, notebooks, and pens on hand. I also like to gift a big cozy throw. We alway shave quite a few blankets on our couches and chairs to snuggle with!

That’s it for this month! I am off to finish watching Love Actually and read One Day in December. Have a wonderful day full of sunshine and books!
