Hello Monday – 12/17/19

Happy Monday!! We had a fun weekend and this is my state until further notice…

We kicked the weekend off on Friday with our Christmas lights drive. We started Friday Night Light Drives 5 years ago and it is still a Parsons family favorite!! As an athletic driver, Jeff works a lot of Friday nights. So I decided to have the kids put their pjs on and hop in the car right after dinner one Friday to fill the time between dinner and bedtime. We always get a fun drink for our lights tour – hot chocolate, milkshakes, and slurpees are our favorites. We toured 3 neighborhoods Friday night and found some really good houses. We found one court with 5 houses and over 35 inflatables! It was awesome!! They even had 2 blow up nativity scenes. Blow up nativity scenes are pretty rare so we always get excited to find those.

We also visited one of our favorite houses with lots of lights set to music that they broadcast. Jack hopped into the front seat once we parked to have a better view.

On Saturday, Jack had an away basketball game in Westminster. They didn’t win but I had a great time. It was like a high school reunion. I ran into seven different people from high school and it was pretty cool to catch up with them!

After Jack’s game, we hopped in the car and headed to my aunt and uncle’s house for my dad’s family Christmas. My dad has five brothers and sisters and there are 13 cousins. The cousins have 11 kids, we call them the great-grandchildren. All the cousins and great-grandchildren didn’t come because of work and location (west coast, Midwest, and Florida). We had a great time with everyone who was there. My Uncle Jimmy makes yummy bacon wrapped deer bites that Luke absolutely loves!! It is always nice to see my dad and his siblings all together! The cousins and great-grandchildren had a great time catching up and playing together.

We had a yummy lunch and my Aunt Donna’s house and tree were beautiful. Her home is a great spot for all of us to celebrate!

After our Christmas celebration, we headed home to an adults only Christmas party. My parents took Jack and Luke home with them to spend the night. Kourtni’s home was beautifully decorated and the food was delicious. We danced and laughed the night away, and some of the morning!! This is one of my favorite parties of the year. We dress up a little, have delicious signature cocktails, and celebrate the season!!

On Sunday, we got up to go get the boys. Luke had his first futsal practice. After not practicing for over a month, he did really well! I ran some errands on our Main Street while Jeff and the boys hung out at home. Then we headed to Luke’s first basketball game. He did a great job! And was so excited to play!

After Luke’s game we headed home and stayed in for the rest of the day. Jack was pretty excited to watch his Steelers WIN!!

We have a fun week coming up. The boys and I have FIVE FULL DAYS of school this week. Did you catch that, FIVE FULL DAYS??!!?? We have holiday dress up days all week at school. Jack has his first band and chorus concert this week. We also have swim and basketball practices to fill the rest of the days. I am hoping to finish One Day in December by Josie Silver in the next day or two. It’s so good and I can’t wait to see where it ends.

Have a great week full of sunshine and books and Christmas cheer!

We had a large family party this weekend too. I wish more houses around here decorated.. I have such fond memories of driving around to look at lights when I was a kid but the few times we tried it with our kids we were really disappointed in what we found.
