Friday Favorites – 9/21/18

Happy Friday! I am happy to report that I am starting to feel like I’m back in the swing of things. I’m running more, reading more, and back to blogging regularly. Woohoo!

I am linking up with Erika, Narci, and Andrea and The Blended Blog to share my favorites this week!

Favorite 1 – THURSDAY RUNS! Now that we are three weeks into the school year I am figuring out how to fit my runs into our routines.  Our schedule is set so Jack has baseball practice and Luke has soccer 30 minutes later.  Jodi and Erin also have both of their kids at practices at the same time and we’ve been running during soccer practice. It is a great way to get a run in and catch up with girlfriends.

Favorite 2 – BROOKS! I never thought I would say this but I loved running in Brooks sneakers. I have been running in Nike Pegasus shoes since high school and I love them.  However, after running for 628 days straight I was beginning to wonder if I needed another shoe to rotate in with my beloved Pegasus.  I decided to give Brooks Launch shoes a try. I’ve run in my American shoes but they were a little small for running (I usually size up a full size).

I ran on Thursday in them and they were AMAZING!!! I already can’t wait to run in them again on Saturday.

Favorite 3 – ROMPERS! I know that I am a little late to the game on rompers but I am ok with it. I tend to stick to classic cuts and styles and am slow to try trendy things.  Shay had a really cute Lilly cover up romper and I was able to find it on eBay. I have been wearing it all summer and loving it. So when the Lilly After Party Sale came around I picked up 2 on a great sale.  Only 1 has arrived, but I have high hopes for the other one.  Then I picked up another one this week. I am loving them for work and for fun!

Favorite 4 – LUNCHES! I DO NOT love to pack my kids lunch.  I don’t know why I loathe it so but I do.  This week my kids started packing their own lunches and it has been wonderful! They can totally do it and it just may be a game changer.  I know it won’t work every afternoon but it has been working this week and that is a favorite for sure!

Favorite 5 – SCHOOL! We have had a fun week at school. First, we finished our “What did you read this summer” board.  The students each wrote the title of something they read this summer that they would receommend to another student. It has been a great success for students looking for something to read.

We were the state kickoff school for Homegrown School Lunch week. We had a dairy farmer and food scientist present to all students.  We also had our local high school Future Farmers of America running stations for all of the kids to try local foods, shuck corn for lunch, make butter, and learn about farming in our county.  We also have a mobile agriculture classroom here for the week.  The kiddos at school were so wonderful and engaged and have learned a lot this week. I am looking forward to all the yummy fresh fruits and vegetables in our cafeteria today and next week!

The dairy farmer and food scientist taught our students so much about milk and dairy farming. That chocolate milk display certainly caught our eyes!

These are the amazing ladies that prepare healthy, fresh, and tasty meals for our kiddos every day!

That’s it for the week. I am hoping to finish Where The Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens this week. I am enjoying it, especially the Southern coastal setting. Luke has a soccer game this weekend and Jack has a baseball scrimmage.  I am celebrating my birthday on Sunday and hoping that this beautiful sunny weather we’re having continues!

I hope everyone has a weekend full of sunshine and books!
