I’ll be answering these questions, so let’s get to it.
What we’re eating this week…
Sunday – grilled at the pool
Monday – Chipotle with Jack
Tuesday – chicken salad
Wednesday – I am on my own so who knows what I’ll have
Thursday – shredded chicken
Friday – pizza
Saturday – I have no idea – Luke has a soccer tournament
Sunday – Crabs!!
What I’m reminiscing about…
I am reminiscing about all the sweet first day of school pictures from the past few years. I love the pictures on the first day of school because everyone is wearing a new little outfit and so excited for the new year to start.
What I’m loving…
I am loving the sunshine! We pulled an all dayer at the pool on Sunday and it was glorious! The kids didn’t argue or bicker at all and we had a great day with friends.
Monday evening the sun put on a real show with a beautiful sunset! I felt like the sun was making sure I didn’t forget about it while I was inside at meetings all day! 😎 ☀️
What I’m dreading…
I am dreading the busyness of fall. I really love my job, I loved our activities, and I love having things to do, but I am kinda dreading the hustle of all the fall activities. This fall both boys have swim team and religious education. Jack has some baseball and basketball workouts and Luke has soccer. Jeff’s schedule is ramping up so we are pretty busy!
What I’m working on…
I am working on getting my media center ready for all those wonderful students to come into school next week. I am trying to get everything ready for the teachers to use the media center, too. For our PTA, I chair two committees. We are changing our school directory to an electronic format and I am so excited! It is a lot less work for me and more accessible for all the parents! I also need to get the school store up and running in the next month.
What I’m excited about…
I am excited to kick our school year off! I have some ideas to change things up in the library and my schedule is different than it has been in the past. It’s going to be be great!!
I am also excited to do some Stella & Dot shopping. I had a trunk show and can’t wait to pick out some goodies!
I hit 600 days in my run streak last week. I am pretty excited to keep this run streak going. In order to keep the streak alive I have to run at least 1 mile every day. As of today, I am 606 days into the streak!
What I’m watching/reading…
I just saw the most amazing speaker! Regina Calcaterra, author of Etched in Sand and Girl Unbroken, spoke to a group of teachers in my county and I just found her so inspiring!! I heard her speak a few years ago and she was just as inspiring on Tuesday! It was the perfect way to kick off the school year.
I read Educated by Tara Westover and it was absolutely riveting! I read When Life Gives You Lululemons by Lauren Weisberger and it was so funny! It was a quick read and I recommend it!
Check out my Books 2018 page to see everything I’ve read.
What I’m listening to…
I am not listening to much. My car time is only about 4 minutes each drive so Radio Margaritaville has been perfect.
What I’m wearing…
I am loving all the Lilly Pulitzer because it is so bright and cheery, light and cool, and looks nice but feels like pajamas.
What I’m doing this weekend…
Luke has a soccer tournament and it is the last weekend of the pool. So I will either be on the soccer sideline or at the pool. Both make me so happy so it will be a great weekend!
What I’m looking forward to next month…
I am looking forward to getting used to our new school routine. I also get to see my sister – woohoo! Our pool Sip & Dip is coming up this month and it is one of my favorite social events at the pool. A ton of our friends will be there and it is sure to be a good time. My birthday is coming up this month so we’ll celebrate that too!
What else is new…
That is pretty much it. We had so much fun this summer between the pool, the beach, and our little trips. I just love summer!
Bonus: What is your favorite back to school tradition?
We have a few. My very favorite is a pre-back to school tradition. It is Camp Gigi! The week that I (and the rest of the teachers) go back to work, my mom takes the boys for lots of fun adventures. Be on the lookout tomorrow for a Camp Gigi post! It is so much fun for the boys, my mom, and sometimes my dad joins in too!
I love our first day of school dinner because we always carry out. It is a busy night and I’d rather spend the time talking with the boys instead of cooking in the kitchen!
Recently we started a little tradition of going to check on the pool after school on the first day. We may even check on it by taking a dip.
Have a great day full of sunshine and books!!
