WhatsUpWedUpdated

Happy Wednesday! I am joining Shay, Sheaffer, and Mel for What’s Up Wednesday! Let’s get to all of the fun questions about our life lately!

WHAT WE’RE EATING THIS WEEK:

We have been eating out a lot this week.  We had delicious crab cakes on Friday, yummy Mexican on Sunday, leftovers on Monday, out Tuesday, tacos on Wednesday, pizza and ball park food on Thursday. Hoping to get my act together next week and actually meal plan and cook some yummy dinners. I have also been drinking a lot more water this week. I joined a Spring Challenge with Zooma and each week there is a goal to clean up your diet.  I have increased my water to about 100 ounces each day and I feel great!

WHAT I’M REMINISCING ABOUT:

I am totally reminiscing about baby Jack! He turns 9 on Saturday and we’ve been talking about all the funny things he used to do as a baby, toddler, preschooler, and little kid.

WHAT I’M LOVING:

I got to spend some quality time with a lot of my close girlfriends this month and it was so good for my heart and soul!  Jeff was away twice this month and I am loving having him back! I am so glad he got to have all fun he had, but we all love having him home!

Cheers to 20 years of friendship!

WHAT WE’VE BEEN UP TO:

We have been doing all the sports all the time.  Both boys played indoor soccer this month, basketball, baseball is starting, and they did swim team. The boys had their first swim meet last weekend and I am so proud of them.  They did a great job!

We have been trying to get outside as much as possible.  All this cold, rain, and snow have made it less pleasant to be outside, but as soon as that sun peeks out we head out too! We had a big snow storm on the first day of spring so we got to have a day at home all together which was great! I picked up a new game for the family and it is a huge hit. We love Flash! It’s a quick dice game for 2-6 people and it is stored in a tiny pouch that it comes with.

WHAT I’M DREADING:

The forecast!! It doesn’t look or feel like spring here in Maryland! I am a warm weather girl and I am ready for the sun.  I see a lot of rain drops and low temperatures in the 15 day forecast. I am totally dreading it!  Someone sent me this picture today and it couldn’t be more true!!

WHAT I’M WORKING ON:

I am doing lots of pool membership business. It is a lot, but I love doing it for two reasons. 1, I love our pool and 2, it means we are getting closer to the pool opening. I have been planning birthdays and Easter fun! Jack’s and Luke’s birthdays are 19 days apart and Easter is in there too. It makes for a lot of fun and a busy 19 days! I am gearing up for School Library Month in April. We are focusing on poetry and I am pretty excited about the lessons and activities I have planned.  I also try to promote reading through some fun shirts. These are 2 of my favorites. Just realized I need to steam them before wearing, oops!

The kids get a kick out of them. I added a few to my collection this year.

WHAT I’M EXCITED ABOUT:

Birthdays, birthdays, birthdays! I love birthdays and our birthday traditions.  As my kids get older, I realized that we have a lot of traditions to remember each year, but the boys love them so it’s totally worth it!  I am also excited about my half-marathon in a few weeks.  The girls and I have been running and we are going to be so ready!!

WHAT I’M WATCHING/READING:

I am not a huge tv or movie watcher. I watch the Real Housewives while I run. I’ve also been watching Fuller House and Grace and Frankie on Netflix.  I have been reading an advance copy of How Hard Can It Be by Allison Pearson.

I loved The Bookshop on the Corner by Jenny Colgan.

I loved The Island House by Nancy Thayer.

My to read pile is growing by the minute! I have Sunburn by Laura Lippman book, The Young Wives Club by Julie Pennell, The Wedding Date by Jasmine Guillory, The Atomic City Girls by Janet Beard, Surprise Me by Sophie Kinsella, The Great Alone by Kristin Hannah, and Now That You Mention It by Kristan Higgins to read. I also found a short story available digitally by Elin Hilderbrand that I haven’t read (gasp!!).  The Tailgate moved to the top of my to read list immediately!

WHAT I’M LISTENING TO:

Jimmy Buffett all the way! We are going to his concert on Friday and I cannot wait! Before I go to a concert, I listen to all of the artist’s music like I am cramming for a test. It has been a few years since I have been to a Buffett concert and this Parrot head cannot wait to get back! It also helps brighten my day with this snow, cloud, and cold!

WHAT I’M WEARING:

This is always the hardest for me because I forget to take pictures! I have been wearing my bathrobe a bunch on these chilly mornings and evenings!

I love a fuzzy robe and when you add Lilly print it can’t be beat!

I have also been wearing some comfy, cute “athleisure” gear around. I don’t love the word, but I love the clothes! They are just so comfy!

I have been rocking some actual exercise gear when I run. I hit day 450 in my Run Streak on Monday and had a great 4.5 mile treadmill. I find these big days, the hundreds and the fifties, so much easier than a regular run because I am just so excited to reach another milestone.

I’ve been layering a lot lately because I’m getting tired of heavy winter clothes but it is still chilly. I love these plaid pants and the bright vest.

I love fun bracelets and picked these up at Pier 1 years ago. They had them for a bunch of holidays, Christmas, Valentine’s Day, St. Patrick’s Day, Easter, and Halloween.  These 2 are a great way to add a little spring and Easter cheer to any outfit!

WHAT I’M DOING THIS WEEKEND:

We are celebrating 9 year old Jack and Easter. Lots of fun and love! I also need to find a way to squeeze in a 10k for my training plan.

WHAT I’M LOOKING FORWARD TO NEXT MONTH:

We celebrate Luke next month as he turns 7!

I am running my 3rd half-marathon on April 22nd. The girls and I are trying a challenge for the first time where we do a 5K on Saturday and a half-marathon on Sunday.  I just know we are going to rock it!

Both boys start baseball games next month and I am excited to cheer on the Muckdogs and the Cardinals!

Baseball practice 2016 – We are ready for the sun to shine and the fields to open this year!

WHAT ELSE IS NEW:

I am planning a big clothes clean out next month and I am ready.  I tend to hang on to clothes because they are classic and still in good condition.  But I am officially ready to purge the clothes that I haven’t been wearing, even if they still fit and are in good condition. The time has come!!

BONUS QUESTION —- WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE EASTER TRADITION:

I love that we go to early morning church on Easter Sunday. It is hard to get everyone out the door and past their baskets, but it is the perfect way to start the day. The sun is rising when we go in and when church is over, I have a fresh happy feeling and am happy to walk out into the bright sunshine.  Then we head home and do an egg hunt, baskets, and get together with our families.  This year we are changing Easter up a little and I know it will be great.
I also love our family Easter pictures.  Jack was 12 days old on his first Easter and Luke was 5 days old on his first Easter so I look EXHAUSTED in those two pictures, but I wouldn’t trade it for anything!
